This whole UW thing is a godsend to ute fans. Takes attention away from the fact that it is the week of thanksgiving and they are 0-1.

With all this bad press about BYU not wanting to play UW, I'm not sure how they can survive this from a public perception perspective.

I mean Utah knows the importance of winning the perception battle.....

This is too bland and requires reading between the lines. Tom needs to come right out and say it "we weren't going to agree to a game on Thanksgiving weekend that has a high probability of being cancelled last minute because of the unreasonable demands of the PAC12."

And add to the fact that sources in the UW program already have UW prepping for a weekend game against Utah. ASU can't even hold a practice until Friday. They haven't practiced in 10 days or so. There is less than a zero chance that the Utah/ASU game is happening.

This is almost a non-statement, which might have been better under the circumstances. But I'm okay with it. It would be easy in the heat of the moment to try to match UW's bush-league move by calling them out. What this says to other ADs is that this is not how BYU will operate.

why not take the offer? It only costs money if they forfeit. Say UW arranges to play Utah at the last minute— BYU will still be considered as willing to play any team, any where, any place. Thay will get a bounce for being unafraid to do it. Pac12 will look like jackasses for scheduling, then cancelling, their 4th game against BYU this season.

The Pac 12 does not want to play us. They are posturing. We should call their bluff if it comes up again.

Right. It avoids burning any bridges. But because of its diplomacy, it doesn't call Washington and/or the reports/reporters on their BS. The playoff committee is meeting today in person for the first time. The perception of BYU being unwilling to commit to a game (that Washington was not committed to playing) may color what the committee thinks about BYU's schedule and where they end up ranking BYU. It's not a great time for diplomacy. It's a time to say something like this:

"Washington is well aware that we are willing to play the game so long as it is guaranteed not to be pulled out from under us later in the week."

It can also work in the reasoning behind needing the guarantee - avoiding an unnecessary expenditure of funds (after just having requested donations because of a $20 million deficit), many of the players having already left town for the Thanksgiving holiday, etc.

If there is no way ASU plays this weekend, why not get a game against the Utes scheduled? Doesn't require a chartered flight or even a hotel stay. It's up the road and should be able to be put together pretty quickly. Why? Because Utah knows it would get its ass kicked this year and there is no way KW jeopardizes his streak. But let's not confuse who is scared to play in all this chatter.
