    2. PUNT - 5 plays, 10 yards
    3. TD - 4 plays, 64 yards
    4. PUNT - 6 plays, 17 yards
    5. TD - 8 plays, 66 yards
    6. PUNT - 3 plays, -3 yards

    Halftime

    7. Turned the ball over on downs - 8 plays, 34 yards. To turn the ball over on downs your first possession of the half against Portland State is unconscionable.
    8. PUNT - 3 plays, 9 yards

Score was 14-6 heading into the 4th quarter. Against Portland State!

    9. FG - 13 plays, 83 yrds
    10. MISSED FG - 6 plays, 44 yards
    11. FG - 4 plays, 5 yards
    12. End of game - ran the clock out.

Did I mention this was against Portland Freaking State!?
It was cold and windy Saturday so we went to the Idaho State vs Portland St game. ISU moved the ball on these guys all game long, two backs ran for over 100 yards and the QB threw for over 300 yards. The QB's brother plays WR and caught a 97 yard TD pass on perhaps the best catch I've ever seen. We had a good time. BYU should have been able to run all over Portland St. If BYU played ISU this season I bet it would be a very competitive game.

That is maybe the saddest thing I have ever read on this board.

Love your new avatar. I don't love the fact that it is relevant, however.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

            2003 feels the most similar:

            - several QB injuries - Matt Berry, John Beck (6 players recorded passing stats)
            - often anemic offense (average of 16.9 ppg, median of 14 ppg)
            - top receiver in both catches and yards was Toby Christensen, averaging 4.4 receptions per game and 45.6 yards; "home run waiting to happen" Hale was #2 in receptions but #3 in yards behind Dan Coats; "50/50" Rod Wilkerson was #4 in both categories
            - got shutout

There are a few differences - through the first 8 games, that team already had three FBS/I-A wins (Georgia Tech, New Mexico, San Diego State). In one of those wins, the team scored 44 points - that's in just one game, people.

I must be thinking of 2003.

              • If we win on Saturday, do we rush the field?

Is that a euphemism for something?

Man, 2003 was a bad year.

                    - A 58-13 drubbing by Colorado State in LES.
                    - A 50-12 drubbing by Boise State. I left at halftime that game.

                    2002 was also pretty bad:
                    - Loss to Reno when BYU flew in day of game.
                    - Loss to UNLV in LES (the famous "rather win by 9 than by 2" comment).

                    5-7, 4-8, 4-6 got Crowton fired. I do believe 2017 is worse.

                      Wasn't that against Stanford?

I can't say that this is original...I ripped it from someone on CB, but it really does bring out how I am feeling right now.

I remember feeling similarly in the 1-25 season...but then again the one win was against USU, so this might be worse.

It was against Stanford. The UNLV game was a loss as well though. At home. I remember the commentators were some dude from Oklahoma and Trevor Matich. They argued about the NC in 84.

                            Matich looked dumb.

I was thinking it was against AF, but maybe it was Stanford. Definitely wasn't UNLV. And I think it was 2003.

Yes, it was Stanford. I had to leave the game early to catch a flight and listened to the final minutes. I gave serious consideration to driving my rental car into a large concrete freeway abutment. Happily, I'm in a mellower place now.
