I agree with this assessment.

They knew he wanted them to break some rule and demonstrate a lack of obedience so that he could punish them. But those malicious bastards kept all the rules so he couldn't!

I can answer the question how a player could be maliciously obedient. Let's say for example that Bronco Mendenhall ordered Lapuaho to punch a Boise St player in the groin, I'd argue that Lapuaho's following through with the order would be maliciously obedient. I do doubt that BM ordered Lapuaho to punch a Boise St player in the groin, but I have no inside sources to verify if he did one way or the other.

As a BYU fan, losing Bronco sucks. I predict BYU fans will be begging him to come back when we are looking for a new coach again in about 4 years. As a UVA fan, I am thrilled. Bronco is a perfect fit for UVA, which is somewhat of a sleeping giant right now. It was a no brainer decision for Bronco and I think he has the tools to do very well at Virginia. I became a much bigger fan of UVA football last Friday.

As for replacements, I think good arguments can be made for all of the main candidates (Whitt, Anae, Bevell, Anderson, Sitake, Reid, Ken N). I would be satisfied with any of those guys, except probably Ken N. He's a good coach and a great guy who fits the BYU mold, but he has no experience with anything other than the option, which I don't want to see at BYU.

I doubt it. I have a friend who got turned down for a professorship position at Baylor because he was Mormon. They actually told him that was the reason why. Liberty is more crazy than Baylor, isn't it?
