On behalf of Omaha, I'm calling the SUwish for us on Wyoming's upset of Boise St.Originally posted by Paperback Writer View PostI've made the same prediction of a Wyoming upset of Boise St. in Laramie. I'm also a big Craig Bohl fan so I've got an inherent bias in any argument about the quality of Wyoming football. Bohl's first coaching position was being my position coach in high school.
Nebraska played well on the road against a good Wisconsin team losing in OT. Nebraska is not back to championship contention level but the Huskers appear to have turned the corner. Nebraska could still possibly get a play-off invite by defeating Ohio St. next week and winning out and beating Michigan/Ohio St. in the Big Ten CG but I don't think they have the team to do it. Alabama would embarrass Nebraska in a playoff game.“Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory.”

What's the word on Tommy?

No word yet on whether he will play next week against Minnesota. Might depend on whether he suffered a concussion and how severe.Originally posted by Pelado View PostWhat's the word on Tommy?
Will be interesting to see how Nebraska responds to the embarrassing loss. As I stated earlier, the Huskers still have a ways to go before they are back competing for championships. They have further to go than I thought a few weeks ago. I didn't expect a win in the Horseshoe but didn't expect a blowout either. At least not until Tommy threw a pick for a TD on Nebraska's first possession.“Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory.”

I expected a blowout at the horseshoe. But I also expected a close win in Madison. I was almost right.Originally posted by Paperback Writer View PostNo word yet on whether he will play next week against Minnesota. Might depend on whether he suffered a concussion and how severe.

I expected two losses. The Purdue game was the red flag that Nebraska was getting by with smoke and mirrors. Getting exposed was only a matter of time.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostI expected a blowout at the horseshoe. But I also expected a close win in Madison. I was almost right.

No one was taking a stance that Nebraska would go undefeated. There were several games that were close prior to Purdue but Nebraska managed to take control and win and came very close to defeating Wisconsin on the road. Those were all games Nebraska lost last season. If the Buckeyes didn't expose the Huskers, Alabama certainly would have in the play-offs. I still think Nebraska could be a Top 10 team this season and that is excellent progress for a program that had a losing record last season.Originally posted by wapiti View PostI expected two losses. If Alabama wins the playoff as expected, they will surpass 1995 Nebraska as the greatest CFB team ever per fivethirtyeight's analysis. They currently hold the number 1 spot after their SEC championship win. If they lose to Washington they would drop to at least #4. I find discussions like this very interesting and I can't say I have a lot of issues with fivethirtyeight's list or the fact that this year's Alabama team may end up with the top spot.

We need to have a lengthy discussion on how 1994 Nebraska (13-0) didn't make that list.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostSorry. I couldn't find a 2016 CFB season thread or the 1995 Nebraska thread
