In Whitt's 6 wins over BYU,

    Utah has won games in blowout fashion(2008, 2011), in close games(2005, 2010, 2012, 2013)

    With a backup QB in his first start(Ratliff 2005), a one armed Jordan Wynn(2010), a no-armed Jordan Wynn(2011), and a Div III transfer, Hays(2012)

Utah has won with everything at stake(2008), and very little more than pride on the line(Pretty much every other time).

They have won with bad teams(2012 and 2013), with a great team(2008) and pretty much everything in between.
They even won when the fans gave BYU 3 chances to tie with a late field goal

The biggest win was 2008 as it propelled the Utes into the Sugar bowl.

The most important win was 2010 when Brandon Burton's last second block broke the string of late game miracle heroics by BYU.

The most surprising win was 2012 when JON FREAKING HAYS beat arguably the best defense in BYU's history, with 3 new starters on the offensive line, and without Jon White IV.

Utah has won when playing their best(2008, 2011) and when playing their very worst(2010, 2012)

BYU has won with strong offense once(2006) and strong defense twice(2007, 2009).

But most importantly, Bronco has only beaten Utah when they have had a player from Carbon County on their roster. Last I checked, they don't have one of those this year.

    BYU doesn't stand a chance...
I agree with you that the recent utah football dominance defies all logic.

Utah is favored to win. You are supposed to win. I'm still wondering why I need an excuse.

But BYU gave the bowl what it wanted — the first sellout in its history (40,053) and a buzz that hadn't existed. The Cougars appeared the following four years as well, with every game selling out and the 2006 game against Oregon drawing 44,615 fans, still the largest crowd for a Las Vegas Bowl. BYU has drawn five of the bowl's top seven crowds, all exceeding 40,000.

                    • Ranking the Pac-12 bowl games by 'importance'

Guess which bowl is #1 according to ESPN's PAC blogger?

I wrote about the Holy War -- its absence, actually -- in an August mailbag. Afterwards, Utah fans wrote to inform me they didn't care about BYU. About 50 Utes fans took time out of their busy lives to write me about something they didn't care about.
                      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I actually felt the love from Ute fans cheering for BYU against Colorado over the weekend. That was nice.
