Ute fan poisons police officer:
https://www.facebook.com/tdog.ukena?fref=ts"The suspect was seen taking the sergeant's order, filling his drink," Sgt. Bobrowski said. "The suspect left the sergeant's drink on the counter and left the picture frame. In the video you can see him returning with something in his hand and then leaning over the sergeant's drink for an unusual amount of time. The suspect then provided the sergeant with the drink."
Officers arrested 18-year-old Tanis Lloyd Ukena after seeing him on the surveillance video.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Im mystified as to why he would do that. Not that I would impugn the word of a good policeman, but I dont think a sip of soda laced with THC and meth would make your body non-responsive. And how can they tell it had meth in it if the meth was dissolved? I mean, you make meth out of cold medicine-- so they tested the drink and it had elements of cold medication in it?
No matter how impulsive your average 18 year old boy is, why waste your weed by putting it in a drink?

And actually, dissolving meth in water is a common way meth is used. I don't think its chemical structure breaks down into "elements of cold medication" when you do that. I think it was the store security camera that nailed him. It apparently showed him leaving and then coming back to put something in his drink.

They probably have a causation problem. A similar case happened here and it ended up with the police officer fired and a lawsuit agains the police department.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostIm mystified as to why he would do that. Years back, anytime negative news was out about a Utah player/coach/administrator, Hot Lunch and I would bet on who we thought would be the first person to post about it on this site, and who would post the most about it. HL always chose you, and he was correct a majority of the time. Given his unique perspective, he hated that the police blotter becomes the fuel for rivalry digs and discussion. You wonder why he turned on you, and I don't know the whole answer to that, but i think that this issue was an ignition switch.Originally posted by kccougar View PostUh, it's a news story about the Utes, our rival, posted in the Rivalry thread, without any editorial comment. Not sure what the problem is.
I am glad you are entertained.Originally posted by falafel View PostJarid takes offense to the fact that KC likes to highlight the negatives about Utah football. I think it's funny.
Actually I do. Given your relative newness to the site, you don't know much about me. You have no idea what I post about on other sites, either. On this site, there isn't much need for me to say anything to any Ute posters as they get shouted down pretty quickly for that type of BS.Originally posted by imanihonjin View PostI am sure Jarid also gets angry at Utes who gloat when the roles are reversed as well.
Care to elaborate why you think it is important to highlight embarrassing news item about any player?(Ute, Cougar, Aggie or others). I get that these things do affect the teams, potentially the outcomes of games, etc, but the discussions rarely center on that part of it.Originally posted by Commando View PostHow dare you highlight an embarrassing news item about a Utah player!!!
And I bet those showing less than stellar grace were a vocal minority, and without looking, i would guess that SU, PortlandUte, and LAUte were the biggest contributors. The rest mostly felt bad for the kids for missing out on some of their college careers for having sex. IIRC, most of the discussion was about the Honor Code, and the highest volume of the negative posts came from BYu fans.Originally posted by Shaka View PostYes he ought to be ashamed. We all know that the Utes on this board were the epitome of grace during the Unga and Davies scandals.
Who?Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostDont forget Lacey Plaisted. Ute fans were so supportive of her.
And I am sure that SU really is a Faith Crisis Consultant who is just trying to help. Your posting shows that you really like rolling around in this mud hole. I don't get why you do and what you really get out of it. A quick dig? A smug feeling of relief that help convince you that you are on the right side? Whenever any negative news was breaking about BYU or one of its players, it was a safe bet that Portland Ute would be the first to bring it to the group, and the longest combatant in the fray(that was before he retired to harass BYu recruits on TwitterOriginally posted by kccougar View PostI wasn't even gloating. I just thought it was worth posting in the rivalry thread when the rival does unusual things - like getting cited for throwing water balloons or jumping up and down on top of police cars.
). Is that who you want to be associated with? Maybe another parallel would be LA Ute, who can't figure out why he is hated for all of the "interesting articles to discuss" he would bring around. This is about the only gripe that I have with you KC. I think you are otherwise a normal guy getting through the world, one that I wouldn't hesitate to break bread at any time.
Now on to my soap box. I personally find the discussion of the struggles of student athletes(personal, criminal, etc) a disgusting arena that fans want to delve into and argue about. I don't get the reasons and I don't get the appeal. Unless you are discussing a consistent pattern of criminal behavior, like we have seen recently at Baylor,Florida and Ohio State, the legal problems that face most colleges and teams are isolated, and do not reflect overall on the Universities, coaches, or the rest of the players.
I can say without any hesitation, that I am proud of both Utah and BYu in regards to how they conduct themselves overall. Both schools run clean programs that stay out of trouble with the NCAA. Both schools deal with discipline issues in an appropriate manner. If a player screws up, they are typically handled appropriately for the severity of the offense(I am speaking from a law and crime standpoint).
That these issues become some sort of rivalry score card is revolting. The programs, coaches, and players deserve better.

LA Ute AND PortlandUte comparisons in the same post? Oh man, I need to rethink my life.
On a more serious note, I appreciate the criticism. I follow both BYU and Utah (I am a Utah grad after all). I acknowledge that my discussions of Utah sports tend to the negative and clearly I go too far, or at least go negative too often, in some people's opinion. I will try to be better about that."It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. To lose to Utah State is horrible." - John White IV

Stipulated. Davies was 5 years ago so that fit in about when you had your enlightenment, I said that was my guess without looking, and I wasn't posting anywhere much when Max had his issues. My apologies.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostSomeone needs to become a student of my posts. I agree 100 percent with you that the discussion of criminal, personal struggles, etc. of college athletes is ugly and wrong. I haven't engaged in this bullshit and I don't appreciate the implication that I have. I did in the past, but it has been at least over 5 years since I've come to your side on this one.
Funny you bring up Davies, because I fully supported him and criticized the hell out of byu for suspending him and then using him to promote themselves as morally superior to everyone. Davies was screwed over by byu. Davies deserved no criticism and no suspension.
Also, check out my history with Max Halls arrest and how I reacted to that before you lump me in there.

So when I'm referring to boorish ute fans, I never ever think that I am referring to the ute fans who regularly or occasionally post here. Mostly I'm referring directly to the truly boorish ute fan postings on ute fans.net. Maybe I should be more specific, but I'm surprised that you would think I am referring to the Utes who post here, or even on CB.
I totally expect you to differentiate me from DCF (douchey cougar fans), and I would expect you to appreciate the difference between me and DCF. Why would you not expect me to do the same with you Utes whom I respect, versus the dick ute fans? It almost feels as though you choose to define yourself to stand shoulder to shoulder with even the most crass utah fan, and thus be offended when I say I don't like something a dick ute fan says or does.
I really would like like some enlightenment as ahem, a small personal issue has arisen of this nature.
edit: I see Shaka referred to the "Utes on this board." That's pretty specific but I glossed right over that, I guess because I don't see a lot of disrespect coming from the Utes on this board.Last edited by Katy Lied; 08-11-2016, 06:27 AM.
