  • Trevor Reilly was on the radio yesterday, I didn't listen much but I heard him say one of his teammates who has his degree works at Walmart as a stocker. That made me laugh. He also said BYU does a better job of preparing people for life after football and that when you are at Utah, all they care about is football first, and don't teach life skills.

      • The same approach bothers me at Utah State. I saw Gary Anderson brag about all 13 of his seniors graduating. Then I read that 12 of the 13 majored in general studies.

            • A few other Reilly tidbits:

"When Taysom is healthy he is as good as any player in college football"

He was going to leave after his junior year, in fact Whit encouraged it. But he hurt his knee.

Spring ball is stupid. Should be no contact, to much to lose.

Players are only allowed to practice for 20 hours a week but that doesn't include treatment from trainers, preparation or the film you are asked to watch at home. Gordon Monson then says "Well how do you graduate from college?"

Reilly: "Thats why all these players have crap degrees" "No offense when I say crap most of them don't know the first thing about sociology, general studies or communications, they never do anything in that field"

"These guys go work at enterprise rent-a-car, I have a teammate that has a sociology degree from the university of utah and he works at Walmart, 26 years old, college degree, been in an nfl camp and he works at Walmart as a stocker"

"We never once went to a job fair, BYU has an exception, they make their football players go to job fairs. They separate them by major and they have them sit down and set them up with jobs after they graduate"

"It bugs me that they don't help the athletes, Matt Martinez is trying to change that but he has been fighting to do it for 2 years."

                Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Wrong again. Our school is better at teaching football players life skills. Considering 99% of the guys on the tea won't have NFL careers, I would imagine teaching life skills is a big deal. As a fan, sure who cares. All you want are wins. But if you were the parent of a recruit, that is a big deal.

I'm looking forward to this advantage translating into W's on the field.

These are the kind of crucial life skills we were talking about.
