I'm a big fan of Derik Stevenson treating little coug fans like royalty. FTR I'm also a fan of him regularly and openly telling all Ute fans to ESAD.

*sidenote: I saw Max Hall the other night hanging out with his son. He looks like he's doing really well.

After Utah went up 35-0 at the Veg, Derik left our seats and said he was going to the concourse to look for Utah fans to fight. He was serious and I didn't see him again until after the game. The dude is intense and certifiably nuts, but he's BYU blue to the core. I get the dislike for him -- he enjoys the spotlight and inserts himself into it often. He's a polarizing personality and definitely a throwback to Lavell's BYU before Bronco (in Derik's opinion) implemented his pussification of the program. Walking around with him pregame as contingents of dorks kept coming up to him to let him know they follow him on twitter was incredibly awkward, but the guy has a good heart even if he is enjoying his remaining celebrity. Just thought I'd add a couple thoughts as someone who has hung around him a bit.

Only by accident on one of the occasions we held up the liquor store clerk in search of rubbers. He thought the safety was on.

What is with the "hang loose" sign that everyone is doing in those pics?

Being totally serious here, is there another team that uses the "hang loose" sign? Especially a team that has a Y in their name?

I always felt like the hang loose sign was too associated with Polynesians for a bunch of white dudes from Utah to start using it, but I admit that I secretly wished we had a hand sign. You know, for the white guy gang signs flashes.

Regardless, you referenced the hang loose sign as being "adopted" by BYU. Do you know if another school uses that sign?
