I have enough belief in the P5 that they created a system that keeps the have nots out of the main event. If BYU was ever let in the playoffs, it would be a major failure. If you let BYU in, you are going to exclude at least 2 of the P5 conferences from the playoffs. That should never happen.

Nope, I stand by my statement that BYU in the playoffs was never an option. The P5 is better than to let a have not into that. Just look at the playoff poll last year where a multi-loss Ute team was tracking higher in the polls than undefeated G5 teams.

You could be right, but at this point we won't know for sure. The playoff committee (biased though they may be), would be forced to consider an undefeated BYU with our schedule this year. It would probably have taken the conference champs from the p5 having one or more loss for us to get in, but it was theoretically possible. Now? Those theories and probabilities are approaching Lloyd Christmas percentages.

Really? With a W at UCLA, I can think of several plausible scenarios where BYU gets an invite over a 2-loss P5 champ and/or a P5 champ in an off-year for its conference. You're right that we're out of the running now, and I'm okay with that. If you'd have told me on July 1st that we'd be 2-1 without Taysom and Jamaal, with our only loss being a 1-point game against a top-10 team, I'd have asked which craft beer you were consuming excessively.

It was the freak show factor, it was never a real possibility. It was a story to drive attention at the beginning of the season before the real discussion starts with P5 conference play.
