Well I'm glad you have said something so blunt in order to clarify just how wrong and misinformed your football observations are. And the fact is, we're still prominently in play for a NY6 bowl. True story.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostThis is not true at all. There are already BYU fans running scenarios how BYU could still make the playoffs, which was never in play for BYU. Even undefeated, playoffs were never an option for BYU.

I have enough belief in the P5 that they created a system that keeps the have nots out of the main event. If BYU was ever let in the playoffs, it would be a major failure. If you let BYU in, you are going to exclude at least 2 of the P5 conferences from the playoffs. That should never happen.Originally posted by Commando View PostWell I'm glad you have said something so blunt in order to clarify just how wrong and misinformed your football observations are.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Nope, I stand by my statement that BYU in the playoffs was never an option. The P5 is better than to let a have not into that. Just look at the playoff poll last year where a multi-loss Ute team was tracking higher in the polls than undefeated G5 teams.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostWe have gone from "were never an option" to "should never happen" in five minutes.

You could be right, but at this point we won't know for sure. The playoff committee (biased though they may be), would be forced to consider an undefeated BYU with our schedule this year. It would probably have taken the conference champs from the p5 having one or more loss for us to get in, but it was theoretically possible. Now? Those theories and probabilities are approaching Lloyd Christmas percentages.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostI have enough belief in the P5 that they created a system that keeps the have nots out of the main event. You might want to drop a note about this to ESPN, Fox Sports 1, and the other national media outlets who were discussing it as a real possibility.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostNope, I stand by my statement that BYU in the playoffs was never an option. They would have been in the discussion. Two years in a row? They'd be in.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostNope, I stand by my statement that BYU in the playoffs was never an option. Really? With a W at UCLA, I can think of several plausible scenarios where BYU gets an invite over a 2-loss P5 champ and/or a P5 champ in an off-year for its conference. You're right that we're out of the running now, and I'm okay with that. If you'd have told me on July 1st that we'd be 2-1 without Taysom and Jamaal, with our only loss being a 1-point game against a top-10 team, I'd have asked which craft beer you were consuming excessively.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostI have enough belief in the P5 that they created a system that keeps the have nots out of the main event. It was the freak show factor, it was never a real possibility. It was a story to drive attention at the beginning of the season before the real discussion starts with P5 conference play.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostYou might want to drop a note about this to ESPN, Fox Sports 1, and the other national media outlets who were discussing it as a real possibility. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression
