Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I clicked on the tweet and saw that was an excerpt from Gordo Monson. What a complete and utter tool. I thought it was some unhinged Ute in the letters to the editor.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post“Every player dreams of being a Yankee, and if they don’t it’s because they never got the chance.” Aroldis Chapman

This is hilarious. Apparently the SLTrib (!!!) is now part of an LDS media cabal out to denigrate the university of utah.

This is a fascinating interview by Hans and Scotty. They interview Trevor Reilly who breaks down the Otro PE deal. Evidently, that money will go to service debt and to the coaches' salaries. He estimates this year's debt for the UofU Athletic Dept to be somewhere between $30-40 million. He's worried because BYU and others are far ahead from an NIL standpoint. None of the Otro money will go to NIL. Go to 10:40.

There's a great character on the show "What We Do in the Shadows." The show is about these vampire roommates who live in Staten Island. Most of them are Eastern European and fit the traditional vampire mold, except for one. He's a normal American cubicle worker named Colin Robinson. He's an energy vampire and his role is to drain people of their energy, mostly through boring conversations or annoying behavior. This clip of him arguing online is pretty great. Helps put posters like the Full Share Ute guy in perspective.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post
He just created another account returned. Like a dog to his vomit.
This guy has mental issues, for sure.

Wow, he doesn't paint a very positive picture. $30-$40 in debt? How? I was also struck by his bleak assessment of where uofutah sits financially vis-a-vis BYU, pointing to uofutah basketball as the future of uofutah football if something isn't done to increase inflows of cash. IMO that must come from donors, but he offered no real solutions in that vein, other than to say uofutah fans need to step up. Kinda bleak. I can't believe that the uofutah was very happy about his openness with this views.Originally posted by Shaka View PostThis is a fascinating interview by Hans and Scotty. Per Otro and NIL, I was struck by how many dumbdumb uofutah fans thought that money would fund NIL.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

I didn't realize just how bleak it is. Utah has a problem because its traditional donor sources are dying out, and the money is spread around between kids and charities. The kids are wealthy, but their individual wealth is now a fraction of what their parents had. The heirs simply can't afford to be as generous.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

Trevor Reilly is a dumbass and not a good source on this stuff. He is probably trying to find a way to get Utah to take Saudi money like he did at Colorado.Originally posted by Shaka View PostThis is a fascinating interview by Hans and Scotty. It may be bleak for Utah, but don't trust Trevor Reilly's word on it. He doesn't know shit. It would be like using Derik Stevenson as your BYU source, maybe worse.Originally posted by Shaka View Post

If the Otro money isn’t used for NIL, then I really don’t get it. Why is a private equity fund investing in the athletic department of a school that is way underwater? Is this some kind of high interest equity infusion because Utah can’t get typical debt financing? If so, it’s more of a payday loan and looks like a cry for help, not a big strategic cash infusion. Any PE people have other ideas on what is going on?"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I know Derik. He's keeping a much lower profile, but he is plugged in and generally knows what's going on. I'm not an expert on Reilly, but I know he's got connections on the hill.Originally posted by MartyFunkhouser View Post

There's nothing about what he said that surprises me. You should probably weigh in on what he said rather than just attacking the source.
