Its okay that you don't understand pop culture references. You can't stay relevant forever, Wally. Its okay, really.

Agreed, it's surprising if it turns out to be true. I thought he probably would have kept his job with some key wins this season, including against BYU. But at this point I'll believe it when I see it. If it does turn out to be true, The Field of 68 has themselves some good inside sources up on the hill in SLC.

As per this thread's title, I'm fascinated by the number of Ute fans on Twitter who are losing their minds about the BYU win at Arizona (or losing their minds when they respond to BYU fans tweeting about the win). Too funny.

I doubt it. It would be a mistake for Burgess to take the job.

This quote rings of Frank Solich's firing at Nebraska to me.

However, we have greater aspirations for our men's basketball program ... and our expectation is to regularly compete in the NCAA tournament. ... I believe a change is needed to get us to where we want to go. The time is now to begin that process.

If there was no off the court issue, this was a really dumb move. Sometimes dumb moves pay off, but not usually.

Crud, our strategy to tank the Utah game didn't work. It was worth a try.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I'm surprised. I thought he had them playing a lot better than expected this season, including the home win over BYU. Of course, some of their fans may have had outsized expectations for this Utah team.

The margins are razor thin, these ratings are totally subjective in basketball, and winning is mostly about coaching if you're in that range. And obviously they're counting the Russian or these rankings really are nonsensical. Maybe they are.

Utah has a sophomore transfer who was no. 39 last year and went to Baylor. So really, who knows?

Sorry but you know I'm a natural skeptic. I've seen this movie many times before. Usually it's not a happy ending. Most coaches fail. 2 percent succeed to fans' expectations.

Washington and Georgetown have better classes than BYU and I'm not too optimistic. I may like Utah's class best.
