The Ludwig sacrifice doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The strange thing about Utah this year wasn't the lack of offense, I mean that part makes sense with Rising out and a true freshman taking the reins. But it's seeing teams run on a D that we haven't seen teams run on in more than a decade.

Fair but scoring 10 points a game over the losses is alarming. Also their red zone efficiency has been abysmal even by utah offense standards.

It makes zero sense whatsoever.

I think this podcast is right on the money. Look at all the ute players expressing frustration on social media. That is stage 4 cancer. Acting like a bunch of entitled kids drunk on pre-season hype. The coaching staff have lost control.

I've never been a big fan of Ludwig, but the problems are not on him. I think it is possible that Ludwig did, in fact, walk away at this point and wasn't fired. He may have just been finally done with it and he was probably retiring soon anyway.

Whittingham gets to go out on his own terms, but I think his days of being successful at Utah are over. I'd expect a retirement announcement this year.

Whittingham can't fire himself, and he's already anointed Scalley. Offense has never been great at the U, so Ludwig is the easy target.

He is a great coach, but I think that it is time. It happens to the best of coaches that there comes a time when the game has changed enough that it has passed you by.

I could see Whittingham going to a school like Weber State or SUU a few years into retirement, kind of like McBride or Bronco. A place with minimal resources where the kids are maybe not as entitled and just want a shot to keep playing.

Absolutely. There are a lot of us who would stay at a job we hate for $7 million a year. He has clearly entered that stage of his career.
