Yes, we are replacing almost the entire defense, our quarterback, and running back. Catching us early would have been a good opportunity for BYU. There is always the potential bowl game."Friendship is the grand fundamental principle of Mormonism" - Joseph Smith Jr.

Yeah, I've seen BYU lose to Jason Shelley, Troy Williams, Jon Hays, Jordan Wynn, and a bunch of backup RBs over the span of a decade. At this point I'm convinced Utah could trot out Frank Dolce's 52 year-old ass and still come out on top as long as Utah's DBs can press BYU's WRs in single coverage and dominate the trenches / sell out on the run as they have since (seemingly) forever.Originally posted by Sullyute View PostYes, we are replacing almost the entire defense, our quarterback, and running back. The one thing that seems to be shifting is BYU's O-line seems vastly improved. It's difficult to tell to what extent given we've lined up against Navy, Troy, La Tech, and have upcoming games against Stevens Henager and George Fox U, but I know I really like Christensen and Empey at the very least. The combination of Utah having NFL guys all throughout its defensive backfield and all along its D-line has been the biggest reason for its dominance. Throw in years where they have guys like Zach Moss/Huntley and the games aren't close.

Football talk!?!?! On this Trump-themed message board? I like it!
This would have been a great year for BYU to play Utah. We have 8 (EIGHT!) defensive players from 2019's team that are currently playing for NFL teams. That is (a) pretty awesome and (b) doesn't leave much defense to play with this year (we're not Alabama, surprising to a lot of you, I know). We have most of our offense returning, except for our RB who went in the 3rd round of the NFL draft and our QB who somehow is hanging on to an NFL roster spot (as a WR?). Given all the changes I have no expectations for this year, other than to defeat our version of the Navy-La.Tech-Troy triumvirate: Oregon State.
But the Las Vegas Bowl will be fun! See you there!

I actually would love the Las Vegas Bowl vs. Utah this year. It would be my first visit to the Death Star. And a first for both the cougars and the utes. :stirthepot:
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

100% agree. The newfound enthusiasm is diminished for me because of this simple fact -- We don't get to prove anything against Utah. Even in our great years, a loss to Utah has placed a large * on any accomplishments. It's been a long time since we have tasted the fruits of victory, and this may have been a year to take advantage. Hell, there was a chance we wouldn't even have to deal with the spray of beer and profanities hurled toward loved ones. It would be just football against a slightly down rival in an up year for us. That sounded like a recipe for success.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostCouldn't disagree more. This would be a great year to play Utah.Last edited by originalsocal; 10-07-2020, 01:11 PM.

Hilarious, because when you can't run out the clock by kneeling down because the other team is calling time outs, you decide to keep it on the ground.Originally posted by SCcoug View Post
