I onboard all the new engineers at the company I work for. We recruit from Utah. Without fail, when we go around and introduce ourselves on the first day, I get a reaction from the Utah alumni when I mention I'm a BYU alum. These are kids that started at Utah after they joined the PAC-12.
We also have a lot of MU and KU grads come through, they rarely react to each other. Go figure...Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.
