There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Time to change the thread title? I mean it can't be everyone now...
It will be interesting to see how the team responds to losing Taysom. Maybe they'll take a "win one for the Gipper" approach. This was a good win for the program that should help the psychology of the team. It'll also be fun to watch Mangum develop.

Assuming he survives the season. Given his short time back, one wonders if that will make him more prone to injury.Originally posted by Bo Diddley View PostTime to change the thread title? I mean it can't be everyone now...

Just one game in, but did we expect the receiving corps to look this good? Mitch seemed to run a little hot and cold last season, but clearly had the ability. Kurtz was hyped all year long, so I guess I'm not too surprised to see him perform well. Houk looked especially good after looking just so-so in other action the year before. Those three huge targets are going to make Mangum's job a lot easier, at least in terms of passing. Should be able to throw jump balls to the sidelines all day.
What about TE play this year? Did we even play a TE against Nebraska? Maybe Houk or Matthews were technically slotted as TE?Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I think the inside receiver role is going to be played mostly by lotion and Dye.Originally posted by falafel View PostJust one game in, but did we expect the receiving corps to look this good? Pearson had some nice catches and Henderson had at least one grab, but I think they play X and/or Y."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

Stock up: BYU -- Hello, America's team. For two straight weeks BYU has found a way to win on a Hail Mary by backup-turned-starting quarterback Tanner Mangum. You can't make this stuff up, but can BYU keep it up? If so, BYU should be in the conversation for a spot in the selection committee's top four. With back-to-back road trips to UCLA and Michigan, and a Nov. 14 game against Missouri, there are plenty of opportunities to impress the committee. Strength of schedule isn't a problem for the Cougars.

I was on the elevator at work today, and two guys who are not LDS and have no ties to BYU or the state of Utah were talking about BYU football, at least I assume they were. In the brief time we were together, I heard them talk about how amazing the finishes were, how cool it was that it was a backup QB, and how they were impressed with the arm strength of the backup.
America's team is gaining traction!
