I like the Riley hire by Nebraska and I think OSU makes sense for Bronco, they can pay him twice what he's making now and OSU could go 6-6 or 7-5 every year and Bronco wouldn't get much heat from the locals

I think Riley was only making 1.5-1.7, he did have like a 200 year contract with automatic roll over though.

WOW.. This is NOT what I wanted to see in a hire for a Big Ten coach.. A guy who just got blown up by Oregon.. Way to raise the bar Nebraska...

this is a fair point. True Big ten coaches are generally guys that get blown up by the SEC.

For reference Riley made $1.5M last year. Bronco has to be withing 250-500K of that.

That's true. I guess if we use dabrockster's logic, there are really a lot of qualified candidates to fill these Big Ten slots. What is the dude at Appalachian State doing next year? He *might* be interested in jumping ship although it would be a lateral move, at best.

The question we need to be asking is maybe "What schools can blow a coach out and he is still qualified to coach in the Big Ten?" we know dabrock says losing to Oregon is on the list. Who else?

I think that should be extended to any coach that loses to a coach that is blown out by Oregon.

I like Mike Riley as a coach. Oregon State is not an easy place to win. However, that is a really bizarre hiring. I don't know why you fire Pelini to hire Riley.

well, one reason is that Mike Riley doesnt have anger management issues and likely wont embarrass the program with off the field misbehavior.

Riley will be a model citizen and simply embarrass the program on the field.

I've got a shipper in Nebraska who's son played for them. I was talking to him and he said it wasn't his record, it was just that people don't like him. He was hoping they would bring in Tressel and Frost with the understanding Frost would take over after Tressel retires.
