One of the top 4 has to lose in order for the Big 12 or Ohio St to move in. All of them still have tough games so it wouldn't be at all surprising for a spot to open up. It will be interesting to see what the committee does if there is only one spot for either Baylor/TCU or Ohio State.
I would be shocked if Ohio St. didn't make the play-offs after winning out and defeating Wisconsin in the Big Ten CG. Not saying that I agree with it but the selection committee will take Ohio St over TCU, Baylor, and Miss. St. The justification will be that Ohio St. won a conference championship game while the real reason is that Ohio St. will bring in higher TV ratings.

If the #1 and #4 teams are both from the SEC will they play each other in the semi-finals? Does the committee have a directive to avoid rematches in the semis?

I am surprised you aren't on the committee with how well you know the game.

He pointed out where the committee placed the Pac-12/south teams; SOS is one of the factors the committee analyzes.

I agree that if a team's best win is against Texas, that team is very mediocre.

No need for much of a rebuttal. You are downplaying all the data and analysis that is going into the way the committee ranks these teams. I am almost positive that they have more information than you do.

I will also point out Vegas ranks these same 6 teams in their top 20. Not in the same order but they are all there. Vegas spends the most money, time and energy in order to set these rankings because of how much money is on the line. Their poll is the most unbiased poll out there.

I understand why you would want to downplay the Pac-12. If I were in your situation, I would do the same.

                    Your bitterness is showing.

Is this going to be the stock answer from now on when something negative is said about the PAC? Of course the PAC-12 South is overrated by this committee. The SEC West has been over rated in the past as well. Who cares? Only the top 4 teams really matter. Conference bragging is lame. If it makes you feel better i fully admit that every team in the PAC-12 South would beat the current BYU team.

It will be my stock answer when someone makes a completely unsupported point about the Pac-12. Vegas thinks the Pac-12 South is loaded. The college football playoff committee thinks the Pac-12 south is load. Sagarin ratings of the South are (16, 18, 20, 24, 34, 92). Masey ratings for the South are (11, 15, 19, 21, 23, 87).

In short, BYU fans trying to beat the drum that the Pac-12, especially the Pac-12 South, isn't that good are doing so out of bitterness and nothing else.
