If you think we needed a USU-type pick six at the beginning of the game to set the tone, then you are right, we probably disagree.
Nice strawman. I said we needed him to make a big play. I didn't say we needed a pick six at the beginning of the game.

you brought up the USU game, in which he made a pick six to set the tone. So maybe you didn't mean to reference the pick six play, I dont know.

In the wisconsin game, he had that huge tackle for loss in the first series. I guess that isn't big enough? How big does it have to be? 25 yard loss?

We come to expect too much of our most talented. I found myself wishing Hoffman was somehow 12 ft tall on an overthrown pass.

What I meant to reference was a big, game changing play from our best defensive player. Sorry you took it with such specificity. I'm still waiting for you to tell us about all these sacks you're so sure you witnessed by KVN. Since Wisconsin went on to score on the first series of the game, the TFL didn't really end up mattering, right?

his job isnt to score, it is to defend, so of course the tackles matter. I wasn't sure it witnessed multiple sacks, as i already indicated with a question mark. i thought he was credited with one.

You said KVn was invisible, when clearly he wasnt.

What sort of "big game changing" play are you expecting on the first drive of a game?

            • Oh, I see now. You are still upset about the Florida State Auburn thing.

You seem to be stuck on this idea that I expect KVN to score a TD, which isn't the case.

I watched him for a large portion of the game, and when he pass rushed, he didn't pressure the QB well. He was easily handled by their R tackle. He had an interception fall in his lap, which was a nice play.

I just had hoped he'd have a bigger impact on the game than he did, is all.

                  No idea what that means.

He had an interception, a tackle for loss for 12 yards, 8 total tackles, another tackle for loss. He had a very good game, you need to curb your expectations. He can't score a touchdown every game.

The int fell in to his lap because he made a great hit on the reciever, didn't lead with his head and drilled the guy in the ribs separating him from the ball.

He isn't saying he needs to score a touchdown, he needs sacks, specifically the variety where he strips the ball and causes a fumble. You know, against a team that is primarily running the ball, and when they do throw is going to keep an extra blocker or two in the formation.

                            • I was frustrated by the loss as well and the continued struggles BYU has against good teams, but I don't think this game stains the season in any way (UVA and Utah already did that). BYU is a work in progress and has been for a while. First year of a new system and BYU has pretty good wins against Texas, GT, and Boise. The O-line was going to be a mess and although it hasn't been great, it has made improvements. But a team like Wisconsin will show the deficiencies in talent on both sides of the ball. They are a much more talented team than BYU. BYU still has a shot at beating Notre Dame and a decent team in the bowl game.

Had BYU been undefeated going into Saturday, Cougar nation would be on suicide watch.
