Dave Locke used to call BYU Barometer U. We beat the teams we should and lose to the teams we should. This data seems to line up with that. But we may be the same as everything else that way.

I'd guess if you were to do a similar study for any coach and it would look about like that. The 11-0 when favored by 0-3 points seems like an anomaly, but outside of that it, I'd imagine with a 100+ game sample size most coaches records would be about the same.

IOW, Vegas knows what the hell it's doing.

The other big thing to me is that in games that are 3 points or less either way, BYU has won 16 out of 21 games (76%). That's pretty remarkable, actually.

Sounds like the kind of thing Indy would put on a graph.

I didn't know what the results were going to be, before I made the breakdown (I wasn't trying to pad the results for or against Bronco). I chose 0-3 since that generally indicates two evenly matched teams. I didn't expect to see he had won 40% of the games in the 3.5-10 range, as an underdog.

As I said above, my hypothesis was the numbers would bear out he was an above average coach against anyone but Kyle W. I was surprised to see how strongly the numbers confirmed this.

I quite like Bronco but how statistically significant are Las Vegas spreads? I understand the generality of the analysis, and at least superficially, Bronco looks very good.

I am incredibly impressed with the quarterback. I think if he can persist and remain healthy, he will be a great one.

Blimey if he wouldn't be a right good cricket coach. I'd like to take a butchers at the result. That would be dog's bollocks!

I screwed up the early chart, I had a few wins and losses backwards. How could i forget the loss to UVA ,as a 2.5 favorite this year? Duh! Sorry for screwing you your stats Siz.

Here is the correct, as far as I can tell, info:

JL pulls the trigger after robin gives Bronco complements? Very telling.

Do you know who I am, MR. BOISE STATE FAN? If you don’t know who I am, then maybe your best course would be to tread lightly.

Because I'm a dork, and once I start wondering about something It drive me crazy, I went back and Whittingham's performance. I was not surprised to see he won a lot of games as an underdog, but I was surprised to see how good he is when Vegas considers the teams evenly matched +/-3, and I was very surprised at how many games he has lost as a favorite.

                                Corrected data:
