BVP killed us, he is the reason BYU fans think we struggle with mobile QBs.

However under Bronco we have been great, just the last 3 years look at the mobile QBs we have shutdown: David Watford (UVA), Chuckie Keeton (Twice), Vad Lee (Ga. Tech), Travis Wilson (he threw it well but coming in to that game he was averaging 9 yards per carry and he had 8 for 15 against BYU), Jeff Godfrey (UCF), David Ash (Texas), Washington (Ga. Tech), Dingwell (SDSU).

I don't remember the last time a mobile QB got loose against BYU and killed us with his legs.

I expect that he has already watched it three times.

BYU, whether deserved or not, has a reputation among it's fans that running QBs kill them and back up QBs kill them. Wasn't it Utah's Ratliff who came in as a back up and ran all over BYU? Maybe that has something to do with it too. Of course that was pre-Bronco too.

I agree with this. BYU's defensive weakness is the secondary. I much rather play the BSU qb that is a better athlete and a poorer passer. I don't know enough about the BSU qb, but my prediction is for BSU to win it is going to take craziness like parts of the UH game or it is going to take Kedrick hitting a lot of mid-range passes. I don't see this being the track meet type like last weeks game. It will be the team more capable of sustaining drives and taking advantage of those opportunities when they get close.

Saying all that I still think Chris Peterson is as good as there is in the business of putting game plans together. Boise is not the same they were with Kellen Moore, as BYU fans get to enjoy the impact of exceptional qbs on the college football game for the next 2.5 yrs, but they are still a marginal top 25 team. BYU will have to play well against BSU. I expect with Craig Bills back in the lineup the defense will be a more effective workmanlike crew again.

Ratliff and the TCU backup did that back in 2005. It really hasn't happened since then. I think the issue with BYU fans is there are too many of them like Hsaru. They should sell female feminine hygiene products in the bathrooms for both genders. Not because we are all open minded like the folks at Harvard but because too many of our menfolk suffer from a very high pussy hurt coefficient.

I am watching it right now .

I am already worried about Lawrence for Boise. He is a monster coming off the edge and had 2 sacks against Nevada on the opening drive. He will destroy Yeck.

Like I said previously, they're not great against the run, but they get to the QB. I am very worried about that.

Southwick was completing 73% of his passes, they would have dinked and dunked us to death. Glad he is out.

Yep. I have a tough time enjoying those hits knowing how that game ended.

I'm not positive about this, but I think the statistics will back this up. Up until that point in his career, Payne was much more accurate than he was from that point on. IIRC, over the next 8 games he was pretty much awful.

The Oregon State QB last year was a backup, right?

Luckily I missed most of those dark years. That was the first game I watched right after my mission. To this day my FiL goes on a rant about Crowton allowing Payne to do the pregame George Q. Cannon as the reason he missed the field goal.

Edit: Looking at the date and locations looks like I have my story mixed up.

Yes, and he was a Vaztly better QB than our own starter so let's hope we don't Grant this one the same hospitality.

Vaz played well but his line gave him all day to throw. We got dominated in the trenches.
