I've attended games with 87,000 people in attendance with 15,000 in attendance...people here will not go unless the program is winning making some noise nationally ..and antoher thing we loss our natural rivals UT, TAMU Texas Tech, etc.....UT and A&M won't play us,,,but they'll play lowly Rice Univeristy I wonder why? Because they know it's not a easy win. Football has become TV event now...with our games being on T.V. now a lot of people buy tickets, then stay home to watch the game..to lazy to get off the a** to come.
There really isn't that much to do here, really, there isn't.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

      • Some of you guys want to be sarcastic..fine with me....just letting you know who we are, we are not any pushover. BYU has a rich sport tradition no doubt but we do too at UH, and it runs deep....that's all I'm saying. I know some of you guys..not all of you have Notre Dame itis disease.

it's almost like he doesn't realize that some of us live in Houston and know exactly what the status of UH is. I hear they have one of the nation's top creative writing programs, so there is that.
Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

Except it was a 3 game series which you lost 2-1

            2010 UCLA 31 UH 13
            2011 UH 38 UCLA 34
            2012 UCLA 37 UH 6

            • Big Cat on Prowl's posts are painful to read. That being said, it doesn't matter what you think of us. The tickets sold is currently near 40k and counting in addition to a potential good number of walkups. The BYU side however has quite a few empty seats, that can change between now and kickoff but I think it i safe to say that the ratio will be somewhere between 2:1 to 3:1 in favor of the Coogs.

Actually, most of us have just the sniffles and we wish it is Notre Dameitis.

                • Such is life for a University in a big city. That's the point I was making in my earlier post the Memphis game was a sell out at that stadium which is the Houston Dynamo stadium a MLS soccer team only holds 20k ... dirty little secret about only 15k showed up, they buy tickets, but don't show up, it was televised, lazy fans stayed home. You guys have to understand we have no natural constituency other than our alumni and the citizens of Houston whom a lot of follow pro football the Texans, we have professionals from around the country who've attended other universities, who hold no allegiance to UH. BYU you have a natural constituency in the followers of Church of the Latter Day Saints. We are playing in 3 different stadium venues this year, because of the new stadium construction , 40k capacity. UTSA game was in San Antonio not Houston. Again I repeat fans will show up if they are making noise in the media...simple as that. Had a losing season last year..still having hang over from that. Studies show the greatest predictor of increased fan attendance, is winning. Not whining just giving some fact about the matter much harder for schools in big cities than it is for them in small towns that's just the fact. Not whining just being factual. 30k-35k may be small to you but we are talking college ball in a big city, SMU,Rice, and until recently TCU experienced the same problem...let TCU start losing consistently see how fast those seats will be empty at the stadium...I know I'm from Fort Worth.

Youve obviously never been to a UCLA game!

                            • Serious question: Does Houston have a rival? I know they hate Texas and they all say Texas is afraid of them and won't schedule them (). But do they have a true rival?
