Ya'll no nothin about UH...admittedly we had some so-so years after the old Southwest Conference broke up. Was independent for about 15 years before the SWC days beat some top ranked programs...the vaunted veer your team uses and the pro's use now (ala Kapernik and others), just in a different variation, was created by our head Coach Bill Yeoman 2nd most winningest coach in of all Texas college football history in the Texas Football college Hall of Fame just behind the great Coach Darrell Royal of UT. Dominated the old Southwest Conference and went to Cotton Bowl the first 3 out of 4 (bitch slapping Texas, Texas A&M and the rest) years in the conference beating power teams like Nebraska...Maryland...got cheated out of victory against Notre Dame in last second TD that was a phantom call ...was constantly in the national ranking till we got screwed by the SWC splitting up and Texas politics played into who got into the Big 12. Sounds like we have a chip on our shoulders; we do. You know nuth'in about us...but you are about to find out.Last edited by BIgCatonProwl; 10-18-2013, 01:09 PM.

About the Blake Morgan bit. Bills has been cleared to play, so is this just a concern when Morgan rotates in? Will he rotate in much?Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostI had a few Houston games on the DVR and I was bored last night.
After watching them a few keys to the game:
First on Defense:
Short handed Pressure
Houston plays 4 wide on just about every snap which means we will be playing a lot of Nickel or 2-5-4 coverage with KVN coming up to the line. We have to get pressure with 3 or 4 guys rushing the passer. Houstons O-line has only allowed 5 sacks all season. It is a typical Air Raid offense they get rid of the ball quick and attack the vertical seams.
Take away the safety valve:
Running back Ryan Jackson has been a nice option for O'Korn. He stays in to block and generally releases late. He is a shifty back that we need to keep our eye on. HE is also no slouch running out of the shotgun racking up 400 yards rushing and 5 yards per carry. The good news is we are a zone dominant team and with zone principals most players will be facing the line of scrimmage and able to read a short dump off pass fairly quickly. Man defense is usually where you get torched.
Deontay Greenberry
FOr those that don't stalk 16 year olds, Greenberry was one of the top WR prospects in the country 2 years ago. He had offers from everyone and committed to Notre Dame. Only to flip at the last minute and wind up at Houston which shocked the recruiting world. Normally I don't worry about WRs as our defensive scheme (cover 2) does a nice job against them. Greenberry is different because he plays the slot and we don't have a true nickel corner. Which means a 6'3 200 pound future high NFL draft pick will be matched up on Blake Morgan and Spencer Hadley. This gives me flashbacks to Justin Ena covering Ashley Lelie back in 2001. Again we primarily play zone but they will run him right down the seam which will put a ton of pressure on Bills and Sorenson to make the right decision. Remember Brandin Cooks of OSU played a similar position last year and killed us.
Turnovers:
Turnovers are always key. Houston does not turn the ball over. O'Korn has 1 int on the year and they have 4 turnovers total. BYUs defense has scored in 3 straight games. We will need to keep up that trend and make O'korn uncomfortable in the pocket so he forces some bad throws. I think this is the game KVN gets his strip sack fumble. You don't drop back 45 times against BYU and not get hit a lot.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

When we go nickel he is the first guy in. However he generally moves to Bills spot and Bills comes down and covers the slot. With Bills out, Morgan was covering the slot.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostAbout the Blake Morgan bit. Bills has been cleared to play, so is this just a concern when Morgan rotates in? I know tons about UH. In fact, I know their accounting students suck. I've worked with dozens of them and would never recruit at that school, even if my life depended on it. In fact, when I get resumes for an open accounting position I quickly filter out the UH grads because I know they'll suck.Originally posted by BIgCatonProwl View PostYa'll no nothin about UH...admittedly we had some so-so years after the old Southwest Conference broke up. Probably pretty good considering how many tit-sucking cry-baby living-in-mamas-basement kids go to school there.Originally posted by YOhio View Postlol. As far as crowd attendance is concerned....we live in metro area with 6 million plus folks with all kind of entertainment activity with Professional football teams, unlike some other places...so people here have many options to spend there dollar.I been in this town many years attended many games.. I've attended games with 87,000 people in attendance with 15,000 in attendance...people here will not go unless the program is winning making some noise nationally ..and another thing we loss our natural rivals UT, TAMU Texas Tech, etc.....UT and A&M won't play us,,,but they'll play lowly Rice Universitiy; I wonder why? Because they know it's not a easy win. Football has become TV event now...with our games being on T.V. now a lot of people buy tickets, then stay home to watch the game..to lazy to get off the a** to come.Last edited by BIgCatonProwl; 10-18-2013, 05:42 PM.
