I said "2-3 yards". And it would be from his feet to the center of the numbers. I stand by my estimate.

From the photo below, I would assume that the field measurements are to the the >, which looks to be more like 2/3 up the number. Regardless, carry on.

Tree's post game analysis is up:
Hill could join KVN and Jimmer in my BYU Mt. Rushmore when all is said and done.Taysom Hill put the entire team on his back by rushing 28 times for 194 yards (eight sacks for -66 yards turned his final rushing total into 128), and completed 29 of 44 passing attempts for 417 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions. Hill was directly responsible for all but 37 of BYU’s 115 offensive plays, meaning Hill passed or ran the ball on 68% (78/115) of BYU’s snaps. Despite getting hammered by a very aggressive Houston defense, Hill stood toe to toe and kept BYU in the game. He is the only player ever in the pantheon of great BYU quarterbacks to pass for over 400 yards and rush for over 100. I can’t say enough about how tough of a performance that was. In the third quarter Hill took multiple sacks (at least 3), a safety, threw an interception, and completed zero out of four passes. After momentum had swung completely to Houston’s favor, Hill bounced back in the fourth quarter to complete 9 of 11 passes, including the go ahead touchdown, as well as gaining the first down with his legs to seal the game. Overcoming that kind of adversity takes serious intestinal fortitude.

When things went south for the offense in the 3rd quarter the Defense did not allow Houston to score points and put the game out of reach before that Noble Sone of the 208 Arose and led Alma Maters Sons and Daughters to Victory!Originally posted by Surfah View PostTree's post game analysis is up:

IMO, sacks shouldn't count against a QB's rushing total. Perhaps I'm just saying that because I'm a BYU/Taysom Hill fan and totally biased, but Ogletree is correct that he threw for 417 and ran for 194. To say he threw for 400 and ran for 100, as great as that is, doesn't do his performance justice.Originally posted by Surfah View PostTree's post game analysis is up:

If Bronco wants me to start game planning for him, I can.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostI had a few Houston games on the DVR and I was bored last night.
After watching them a few keys to the game:
First on Defense:
Short handed Pressure
Houston plays 4 wide on just about every snap which means we will be playing a lot of Nickel or 2-5-4 coverage with KVN coming up to the line. We have to get pressure with 3 or 4 guys rushing the passer. Houstons O-line has only allowed 5 sacks all season. It is a typical Air Raid offense they get rid of the ball quick and attack the vertical seams.
(WE had three sacks and 1 QB hurry in the game, 2 of those sacks came from corner blitzes. The D-line didn't do a great job geetting to the qb and clearly it showed with how well O'Korn threw the ball and picked us apart.
Take away the safety valve:
Running back Ryan Jackson has been a nice option for O'Korn. He stays in to block and generally releases late. He is a shifty back that we need to keep our eye on. HE is also no slouch running out of the shotgun racking up 400 yards rushing and 5 yards per carry. The good news is we are a zone dominant team and with zone principals most players will be facing the line of scrimmage and able to read a short dump off pass fairly quickly. Man defense is usually where you get torched.
It wasn't just Jackson that killed us in this game, but the safety valves and final read for O'Korn were huge. BYU helped with a lot of missed tackles and bad assignments but those dumpoffs (especially the late drag over the middle) really hurt.
Deontay Greenberry
FOr those that don't stalk 16 year olds, Greenberry was one of the top WR prospects in the country 2 years ago. He had offers from everyone and committed to Notre Dame. Only to flip at the last minute and wind up at Houston which shocked the recruiting world. Normally I don't worry about WRs as our defensive scheme (cover 2) does a nice job against them. Greenberry is different because he plays the slot and we don't have a true nickel corner. Which means a 6'3 200 pound future high NFL draft pick will be matched up on Blake Morgan and Spencer Hadley. This gives me flashbacks to Justin Ena covering Ashley Lelie back in 2001. Again we primarily play zone but they will run him right down the seam which will put a ton of pressure on Bills and Sorenson to make the right decision. Remember Brandin Cooks of OSU played a similar position last year and killed us.
We kept Greenberry from making the big play however 11 catches and 2 touchdowns was exactly what I was worried about
Turnovers:
Turnovers are always key. Houston does not turn the ball over. O'Korn has 1 int on the year and they have 4 turnovers total. BYUs defense has scored in 3 straight games. We will need to keep up that trend and make O'korn uncomfortable in the pocket so he forces some bad throws. I think this is the game KVN gets his strip sack fumble. You don't drop back 45 times against BYU and not get hit a lot.
3 interceptions by our defense was huge. They did a nice job. KVN missed quite a few tackles in the backfield.*Banned*

My point is, he faced all the harder teams on our schedule early on and sat for all the easier ones later in the year.Originally posted by YOhio View PostHe did. Bobby I have your back as well.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostOffensive keys:
First of all Houston is not good defensively, they ranked 59th in the country in total defense and that is against the 123rd ranked schedule. Houstons opponents rank: 83rd, 103rd, 94th and if UTSA wasn't reclassifying they would rank 72nd in total offense.
Playing these terrible offensive teams they still only rank 59th in total defense.
Protect Taysom:
If we can protect Taysom and give him time, Houston is 103rd in passing yards allowed giving up 270 yards per game which is more than Taysom has thrown for all year. We saw the offenses they have played not exactly world beaters. This all starts with protection upfront. If the O-line can hold up I see some big receiving days for Cody and Mitch. In fact I think Cody goes for 150 and 2 tds. They don't have a great pass rush as they only have 8 sacks on the season. Which should bode well for our O-line.
Gave up 8 sacks to a team with only 8 coming in. Terrible performance by not only the O-line but also Lasike who couldn't pick up a blitzing backer if his life depended on it. I was wrong Ridley had the big day and Cody only went for 150 and 1 td not 2.
Running lanes:
Again this hinges on the O-line. Houston is stout against the run ranking 26th nationally. But a lot of that has to do with how bad they are against the pass. BYU will have a balanced attack and even with Houston ranked 26th nationally against the run they are still giving up 3.5 yards per carry.
Jamaal was well on is way to over 100 before the injury and averaged 5 ypc, Hine averaged 4.6 and Taysom ran for 124 yards. As a team we ran for 265 yards, I am happy with that peformance.
Limit the 3 and outs:
The offense has way to many possessions this year that have lasted under a minute. Against a team like Houston where you are covering in space for long periods of time, we will need the offense to control the clock a bit more and help keep the defense fresh. GHGF is great but I wouldn't mind seeing after we pickup that initial first down on a drive.
The offense ran a NCAA record 115 plays and we won the TOP by 7 minutes. Great job by BYU*Banned*
