Hash marks in college are 40 ft apart. So assuming it was 45 yards down field and from hash mark to hash mark, the distance would be:

    (45^2 + (40/3)^2)^0.5 = ~47 yards

ER Cougar can check my math.

Still a long throw given the conditions. I wonder how he would have done had he stopped to set his feet.

Boom! Who said we don't use math in real life?
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Except it was 46 yard down field abd from numbers to hash, not hash to hash.

Not so nervous on FG and XP trys, but after they took the kickoff back for a score in Q1 I was nervous every kickoff after that. Gut reaction I guess, but it seemed we rarely took them down on first contact on the kickoffs.

Arellano's already had 2 (or is it 3?) punts blocked this year. He was also struggling until Q4. He hit 2 long punts in Q4 but his first punt was pretty short and the next couple weren't exactly the type of distance or hang time that gives me confidence in our ability to pin them back....not that it mattered given they moved the ball well on us through the air.

OK. From the hash marks to the sideline it is 20 yards. Just eyeballing a diagram, I would say that the numbers are about 2/3 the way over from the harsh marks to the side. So the updated formula would be:

                  (45^2 + (40/3 + 20*2/3)^2 )^0.5 = ~52 yards

                        Pretty much.

I actually just went to check this, to resolve this festering controversy.

First off, Taysom's throw was from the 29 yard line, and the defender caught it at the 24. So it was actually 47 yards downfield (maybe 47.5, but we'll go with 47).

Taysom threw it from about 1 yard inside the numbers, and it was caught right on the hash mark.

                        From this site, http://www.sportsknowhow.com/footbal...imensions.html

we can work out that it is 70 feet between these two points across the field. That then gives us:

(141^2 + 70^2)^.5 = 157.4 feet or 52.5 yards. Give or take 1 yard. That's a pretty good distance to throw across your body on the run (he did have time to set himself a bit, but still a nice distance)

Like predicting UH will score more than 21 points on us?

Kickoff return td, push off offensive PI touchdown, safety, numerous missed tackles.

If Bills plays they don't score 21. Bills was scratched in the pregame.

So yeah you still don't know what you are talking about. Sad that you were the one repping BYU fans on the road. That's why our fanbase is ridiculed nationally.
