  • The Official BH Roberts In Disguise Thread: BYU v. MTSU

You don't know how astounded I am that nobody had cybersquatted this thread. It is an honor and a privilege, even if I suspect this thread will be dead long before the game even begins.

I must confess that I cannot claim much familiarity with MTSU. They're 3-1, having lost to North Carolina by 20 and having beaten Western Carolina, Memphis, and Florida Atlantic. They've scored 40 or more points in three of their four games. They're ranked 44th in total offense and 96th in team PEF, which only sounds amusing until you realize that that's 27 places higher than BYU.

If I'm Anae, I give Taysom Hill the first half. If he performs well, I give him the second. If he falters, completing less than half his passes or looking generally incompetent, I give the second half to Ammon Olsen and tell him to chop off some arms.
Nothing lasts, but nothing is lost.

    Nicely done.

BTW, why we shouldn't fire Bronco requires no explanation whatsoever. But help me out with the BH Roberts thing.

FYI, the original mascot of MTSU was a founder of the Ku Klux Klan. Perhaps this game should be the Repentant Racists Bowl.

BH recovered the bodies of two missionaries that had been killed by a mob in Tennessee. From Wikipedia: "On August 10, 1884, a mob in the small community of Cane Creek murdered two LDS missionaries and two members of the Mormon congregation. (One of the latter had killed a member of the mob before he was in turn slain.[6]) At some personal risk, Roberts disguised himself as a tramp and recovered the bodies of the two missionaries for their families in Utah Territory."

You may have seen the pictures of B.H. Roberts dressed as a tramp. He was recreating his disguise from this episode.

If I can't get any of the kids to go to the game, anyone want to buy some great seats that come with a parking pass you can use if you get there two hours early?

I would go but my golf game doesn't get over until 5:30 and that doesn't give me enough time to get to the game.

Yes it is a bummer. My neighbor invited me to watch his son's game on Friday and lamentably I had to tell him of my Cougar addiction.

Looks like a 20-30% chance of rain on Friday. Sure, why not? :livecoug:

I love that you're missing your SIL's wedding to go watch Middle Tennessee St. I really do.

For better or worse, I'd kind of like Anae to call all passing plays in the first half. I tend to think that BYU's going to have a long season if they don't figure out how to complete better than 35% in a game. So just throw it, throw it, throw it. Particularly if Williams is out. They can use "screen passes are really an extension of the running game" and keep throwing it when they need to run. But throw the ball!

I called off my sons baptism when I found out it was scheduled for 9 am of the texas game. Most sane people would think that was enough time, but we were at the tailgate lot by 8:30. Held it during the bye week. some poor soul had to stand at the font while it filled for 4 hours just for my son.
