You forgot Algernon Brown. He's also clearly better than anyone Utah has at RB. Poole wouldn't sniff the practice field at BYU.Originally posted by wapiti View PostWilliams just turned 18. I think its hard to know his upside. I'm glad he's on our team.
Here's a more interesting question. How many of our backs would be the #1 back at Utah this year? Clearly Williams but what about Hine, Lasike, and/or Alisa?

Great point. I mean, did you see Brown run over all those defenders in that one practice?! That was amazing!!! That said, BYU could probably use Poole as a back up on the scout team or something.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostYou forgot Algernon Brown. I mentioned this last year but Williams lacks that "wiggle" that truly spectacular backs have. He has improved considerable in all facets of his game from year 1 to year 2 but he doesn't have that truly special turn-on-a-dime move that spectacular backs have. An outstanding running back, recruited by several great schools, just not in the upper echelon IMO.Originally posted by wapiti View PostWilliams just turned 18. I think its hard to know his upside. I just listened to the press conference as well. I guess that is why you don't rely on a BYU homer's interpretation of the comments. Yours is an accurate account of what he said. He did not say they face players like Van Noy every week. His comments have been completely misinterpreted. If anyone else wants to listen to them, here is the link. It is at about the 18:55 point.Originally posted by Harry Tic View PostI heard Whitt's comments on Van Noy. Blown way out of proportion, IMO. He was talking about how they scheme every week by keying in on one opposing defender and in scout team drills, they put him in a different jersey to be able to keep an eye on him. He said they did that with all their PAC 12 opponents and they'd do the same with Van Noy.
I'm not opposed to collecting bulletin board fodder but, in context, his comments were purely schematic. Weak sauce.

Interesting because Jan Jorgensen, Tony Parks and Jake Scott all agree whit was taking a subtle shot at byu and kvn. They also brought up Whit throwing out that stat after week 1 about teams running 85 or more plays going 2-7 or whatever it was.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostI just listened to the press conference as well. Like I said Whit is a dickhead but he is your dickhead so I would expect you to support him (from the comfort of your living room of course, I know you don't actually attend the games).

Plus he's a douche. Is there nothing that wonder man can't do?Originally posted by Shaka View PostKWhitt is a good guy, serves in the church, sends his kids on missions, is an asset to his community, loved by most of his players, and also happens to coach BYU's rival.
.I think, perhaps, the only person who hates BYU fans more than ute fans hate BYU fans, is Bronco Mendenhall.
