Okay, after the game was over but before time had run off the clock at the end of the 4th quarter, did Riley Nelson take any snaps in 2011?Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostNo. The end of the 2011 game occurred after the third play from scrimmage. Heaps was under center at the time.

It wasn't as frustrating as it could have been. I turned it off in the 3rd quarter.Originally posted by YOhio View PostOMG I totally remember that play. It was a very frustrating game to watch, IMO.

1. Travis Wilson will not be able to run against BYUs defense, we have way to much speed on the outside. Good luck getting to the edge.
2. Utahs defense is giving up 38.5 points per game to FBS opponents this year.
3. They gave up 173 yards and 4.4 yards per carry against Utah State, BYU is a better running team than Utah State.
4. Kwhit has a huge ego and will try and single cover Hoffman on the outside. Even if Taysom is inaccurate all he needs to do is put the ball in the right zip code and Hoffman will make the catch (see his 100 receptions last year with Riley Nelson as the qb, including 8 catches for 120 yards and a td against the Utes last year while Riley had a broken back)
5. Our kicker has figured shit out and is perfect on the year.
6. Utahs D-line got to Mannion one time Saturday night. In fact the best D-line in the Pac12 has 3 total sacks against FBS teams for a combined loss of 13 yards. Mannion has zero escapability yet he had all day to sit back in the pocket and throw.
7. I watched Utah rush two and drop 9 three times against Oregon State on 3rd and long situations. Oregon State converted 2 of the 3 with the 3rd one still going for 15 yards. The Utah secondary is very suspect and it wasn't just Cooks. The slow white guy was beating their corners as well.
8. All 3 of Travis Wilsons ints came against a zone defense, BYU runs strictly a zone. Kwhit said Oregon State fooled them in the first half but they settled down in the 2nd half and figured out OSUs defense, well all 3 of MVP Wilsons ints came in the 2nd half.
9. UVA has a better rush defense than UTah (I don't care what the statistics say wait until the season plays out) and BYU rushed for 189 yards against them.
10. UTahs O-line has been suspect all year and BYUs front 7 is one of the best if not the best front 7 they will face all year. Like every team BYU has played this year, Utah will under estimate BYUs speed and try to run to the edges which will lead to some big losses for the Utes.
11. Yes BYUs corner play, especially Skye Povey is suspect, however the safety play is stellar and I expect Sorenson and Bills to make some big plays on the Ute crossing patterns that will have Dres thinking twice about going over the middle.
12. Bronco vs Erickson/Johnson: Advantage BYU
13. Whit/Sitake vs Anae: BYU won 3 of 4 before Bobby left.
14. Return game- BYUs return teams have done a great job against Utah the last few years, Falslev broke a huge return last year, Oneill Chambers before that. Mike Hague averaged 28 yeard per kick return last year, Falslev 34 per punt return.
15. Sean Mannion is ranked 2nd in the country in total offense, Chuckie Keeton is 7th. They have both had the luxury of playing Utahs defense.
16. BYUs top 3 defensive performers in last years game:
Spencer Hadley: 10 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 2 tfl for -12 yards
KVN: 8 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 4 tackles for loss -20 yards, forced fumble, pass breakup
Daniel Sorenson: 8 tackles, 2 pass breakups
Eathyn Manumaleuna: 5 tackles, .5 sack, 1.5 tackles for loss -6 yards
They are all back and better this year.
17. UTahs best defensive players in the game last year: Star Lotulelei, Reggie Topps, and Boas Anderson are all gone.
18. While Nate Fakahaforchard is a good pass rusher as is Trevor Reilly, neither one is great against the run I expect BYU to have no problems neutralizing their speed by running right at them and forcing them to stay home on the read option which in turn will open big running lanes up the middle for Williams and Lasike.
19. KVNs will to win, he is not going out 0-4 against the Utes, he is too good of a player.
20. BYU has big physical recievers, I know they are not the fastest guys but you don't have to be if you use your body well (see TAMus recievers against Bama) I expect BYU to win a lot of 50-50 balls in this game even if Taysom is not hte most accurate qb. Oregon State was 5-6 passing when throwing the fade against Utah and that was with smaller wideouts.
BYUs wins this game pretty easily with the defense dominating and forcing 3 turnovers including a sack, strip fumble and Td by KVN.
BYU 27, Utah 10.
YES!Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I was there in person and stayed until the bitter end. I purchased a new DSORB polo to wear to the game. That shirt has been to worn to such great games as Utah '11, @Utah '12, and @ND '12 in person as well as being worn while watching the Virginia game from my couch.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostIt wasn't as frustrating as it could have been. After the Virginia game I banned the shirt from any game day. You are all welcome for the magical season that will result.

I stayed for the entire game. By the time we got to the 4th quarter, I was rooting for that Utah DL or LB or whoever he was to score on his fumble recovery. He did. I cheered.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostI was there in person and stayed until the bitter end. I purchased a new DSORB polo to wear to the game.
