taysom looked to have heaps-itis on a lot of the shorter slants he threw. he would try to throw an elway style bullet that ended up ugly and off target. seems like an issue that getting into a rhythm would do a lot of good for.

That defensive performance was an abomination. Most rushing yards allowed in school history. Nine more yards for Hill and he would have beaten the all-time record for rushing yards by a QB, held by none other than Vince Young. Mack Brown firing Diaz is like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. Last season Texas gave up the most yards in a single season in school history. They got blown out for the third year in a row by Oklahoma. All of this while having access to the creme de la creme in the heartland of HS football. What the hell did he think would happen this year? At some point, all that capital that Mack built up during the good years just won't cut it anymore. He should have fixed the problem in the off-season. This mess is on him.
Agree - the one NC bought him far too much time for his program's good. And that title, under examination, was more a case of a single player that no one could stop with a talented surrounding cast than it was a feat of coaching and teamwork. Brown's teams have almost always fallen short of potential. And while Coach Anae and the entire BYU team and staff deserve the lion's share of credit, that was just a terribly coached and unmotivated defensive unit out there on the field against us.

Slightly disagree. Yes, it was the players who didn't tackle Taysom, but you gotta step back at halftime as the D.C. and vocalize two observations: 1. Taysom can't really throw the ball. 2. He can run really fast.

Then you go to a coverage that recognizes the QB as an eligible rusher and you hold him to under 120 at least.

Congrats on the dominating win, my byu friends. That was a beatdown of historic dimensions.

Based on the rushing total, I guess those non-qualifying cruising-for-chicks offensive linemen figured out how to get the job done, even if the really good linemen can't get into the byu.

I hope the meltdown-folks from last week are enjoying their extra-large helpings of crow.

Enjoy it for a week, then we'll strap 'em up.

Not to be a downer, but BYU ensured yesterday that Texas will never play in LES again. They haven't lost a non-conference game in 14 years, having only played 16 of them. There is a reason Texas doesn't play non-conference games on the road ... and this is one of them.

Well when they go independent, they'll play us more often.

I thought the same at one point, but that mark by VY was just for the last ten years. Still obviously very impressive.

So KVUE reports that there is not a pitchfork left to be had in all of Austin. Apparently throwing Manny under the bus only further incited the masses.

What a crazy weekend. I'm rewatching the game now that I'm back in Texas - we just flat out blew them up. It was hilarious to talk to some of the UT fans on the way home, all of whom clearly want Mack's head on a pike. Texas fans can be a lot like Yankees fans, Cowboys fans (there is a lot of crossover, as you'd expect) and, yes, even BYU fans sometimes, so to see them beside themselves is pretty awesome.

Which brings me to a segue into our next game: on the parking shuttle, the UT fans started talking about the BYU-Utah game and how insane that rivalry is. I was a bit surprised to hear that they recognize how nasty it is (they were claiming that it's worse, in terms of fan hate, than UT-aTm, which I happen to think is true).

Houston either. The aggie fans are setting up a side business selling them. Johnny Football could accept a giant check on national tv for autographing Reliant Stadium via helicopter and nobody would notice.

I neglected to record last night's game, which is just as well as a recording keyed to the expected start/finish times would have ended late in first half. ESPNU will replay the game at 8 PM (MDT) this evening, so I have another shot. I'm hopeful the weather will not delay the start of the rebroadcast.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
