  • Chris Badger Transferring to BYU

    Nice!
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

So he's apparently appealing the one year transfer penalty. Is this the Riley Nelson rule?

Clarification: Chris Badger hopes to play for BYU this season. He will make an appeal to the NCAA to waive the transfer rule.

Doubt it happens, but will be nice to have him next year. Does he stick at safety or become an OLB or something?

We need a new player with an accompanying "larger than life/urban legend" story, a la Jimmer in prison. Chris Badger will fit that bill perfectly. Looking forward to hearing over and over about how he fought off banditos in Ecuador.
        Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Great news but keep your expectations low. He played with Craig Bills and it seemed that Bills was 10x better. I was shocked when he got the ND offer.

He actually had a lot of legit offers. LSU, Oregon, Kal, FSU among them.

Plus he has Steve Tate as a mentor.

His father, Dr. Rodney Badger, director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at the University of Utah, got former Utah safety Steve Tate involved with Chris at Timpview, and he's been a mentor ever since.

"Steve is cool. He's been where I want to be. He served a mission, started for three years at Utah, he's a playmaker and he's done a lot of great things," said Badger.

No matter what else befalls me in my pathetic life somewhere in Youtube I can always find loudmouthed Steve Tate choosing the fetal position over having has ass clocked by Harvey Unga at about the 2 yard line. I pledge myself to join in every opportunity to reference that event.

Yep. I know some coaches who were as surprised as I was.

Would he help this year? He hasn't practiced with the team and my guess is he is coming straight off his mission. Let him RS a year and then back up Bills at FS and Daniel at SS. Then he will know enough about the defense and had enough experience to be the FS, the veritable qb of Bronco Mendenhall's vaunted stripling warriors of the BYU defense!

God bless mission service and how it clouds your brain for your first 6 months home..and god bless those athletic decisions these kids make while under that cloud!

I also like how that is an LDS news clip.
