Me too. I was there in that endzone, too, and the temperature really changed when the offense went back out on that field. It was electric. I can't imagine what I would have done had that pass found its mark.

    • Sorry folks. I still think it was the wrong call. When your defense is playing one of the best games in BYU football history, you play it safe and go to overtime.

No way. Not when you can't kick FGs. We had zero offense. Even if our defense holds them to a FG, the likelihood of our offense equaling that was slim given our ST play.

        • Last years offense, was ever going to have a better shot of winning a close game than being on 3 yard line, with actual momentum? AND this is assuming the 1 point conversion would have been good- far from a certainty with our un-Gus-like* kickers.

In order for BYU to win if they tie the game:

          >Continue to stonewall BSU- good
          > Find a way to score from the 25. Best case is offense picks up at least 15 yards, and the kicker doesn't choke a 27 yarder. But that still requires moving the ball, making the kick, and not allowing even a FG on defense.

          * For DDD and the 2 other people who get the lame reference.

          • Here is what I imagine Virginia's game plan will be. Tenuta will be aggressive against this inexperienced o-line and QB in the hopes of sacks, turnovers, and quick 3 and outs. They run a pro style offense. The perceived weakness of BYU's defense is conerbacks and maybe nose tackle. I could see them going with 2 tight ends, try to pound the ball, try to catch the defense off guard with play-action, and use max-protection when passing. Play action and max-protect could allow their athletic receivers to get separation. If their defense can get quick 3 and outs and their offense can pound away and wear out BYU's defense, they have a good shot.

Our offense was 6 pts better than theirs. And their kicker was no better.

Gus was the first ass hole, and shouldn't be trusted.

They were scarred because Bronco went for 2? While our crappy kicking claim certainly played a role in that decision, I think it had more to do with avoiding OT. If they got scarred for the rest of the season over that decision, then surely they would have been scarred by something else as equally innocuous if the decision hadn't been made. That's a silly reason to call the call a "gaffe".

I actually think their offense was 6 points better than ours, it's just that our defense was that much better than theirs.

                          • Well I'm glad that's decided. And what do I get for knowing the Gus reference, Art (you jackass)?

You get the satisfaction of knowing that you, like any self-respecting Mormon kid born between 1970 and 1980, know your old-school Disney library of movies.

I hadn't thought about the fact, that many on here are familiar with Gus, The Shaggy DA, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, via VHS (or Betamax). I remember watching all of them on the Wonderful World of Disney, at 7:00pm on Sunday nights. I also remember watching Benny Hill in Jr. High, but that brings back different kinds of memories.
