So maybe you guys would rather lose every game then have a dickhead as your coachOriginally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostHe was fired right at the beginning of that year. Tony Ingle was the interim head coach during the 1-25 season. We had no depth and then we lost our best player when he was convicted of some kind of fraud/embezzlement.

I can't speak for everyone, but when it comes to "most precious record ever", I can think of a ton of things I would rank above that record.
# of national championships
# of heisman trophy winners
# of davey o'brien award winners
etc.

That's twice you've misused this word. And it's the misuse that lead to confusion about your statement the first time around. Maybe clean it up a bit, eh?Originally posted by Mormon Red Death View PostSo maybe you guys would rather lose every game then have a dickhead as your coach

It is fun to have so many things of that nature to rank above that record!Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI can't speak for everyone, but when it comes to "most precious record ever", I can think of a ton of things I would rank above that record.
# of national championships
# of heisman trophy winners

Also add
Beating the #1 ranked team in the country
Beating the #3 ranked team in the country (and defending Heisman trophy winner)
2 Fiesta Bowl invites (even declining the invite
)
Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Agree it can be tough to care about an irrelevant football program but I've still managed to care about and follow BYU football; but it's tough sometimesOriginally posted by Moliere View PostI personally don't care about Nebraska. They shot themselves in the foot moving to the conference up north as they will ow struggle to recruit from Texas and the south. They've been irrelevant for almost a decade and likely will be irrelevant for the foreseeable future. It's tough to care about an irrelevant football program.
WARNING: Nebraska football post coming so Lebowski and others can stop reading.....
It is a myth that Nebraska is becomming irrelevant because they can no longer recruit Texas and the South as part of the Big Ten. Nebraska started becomming irrelevent after Tom Osborne retired as HC. They were already irrelevant in the Big 12 and probably just as irrelevant in the Big Ten. In my view, Nebraska stands a better chance of becoming relevant once again in the Big Ten.
The reason I point out the myth of "shooting themselves in the foot" by joining the Big Ten and thereby losing Texas and southern recruiting is because Nebraska has always recruited Texas and the South with some success. Their starting QB and one of their starting WRs is from Texas. Their starting RB is from Alabama and their starting TE is from Louisiana. And that's just on offense. On defense, over half of their starters are from Texas. Both DTs, OLB, and 3 DBS (the other starting CB is from Miami).
Since I also live in Texas, I know Nebraska continues to keep a presence here and sign recruits. Keep your eye on Adam Tyler from Katy, TX as I think he will be the next Nebraska all-Big 10 RB. He's from Texas/South just like the last two have been: Rex Burkhead (Texas) and Amer Abdullah (Alabama). I also took a look at recruiting numbers. The past 5 recruiting classes after Nebraska announced it was leaving the Big 12: 24/105 players were from Texas; about 23% . The 5 recruiting classes in the Big 12 prior to Nebraska's Big Ten announcement: 21/130 players from Texas or about 16%. So it's a myth that Nebraska can't recruit Texas as a member of the Big Ten. Nebraska will continue to recruit Texas with some success in the Big Ten just as they did in the Big 8.
Even so, I do agree that Nebraska is somewhat irrelevant. As a college football fan, I enjoy reading posts on this board about other programs like BYU, Utah, USC, Oregon, Ohio St., and others even if they are irrelevant.“Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory.”
"All things are measured against Nebraska." falafel

When your posts lose meaning because you're typing fast, it may be time to slow it down a bit and spell things correctly. It's possible, even from an SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2.Originally posted by Mormon Red Death View PostTyping fast from my phone.
