    Lebowski has got to be right on this one. Texas has got to win the B12 fairly regularly or they are under-achieving.

    It'll be interesting to see who they end up with. Will they be like USC, who steals a coach from Washington, resulting in Washington hiring the better coach? I doubt the Texas hire will be so embarrassing.

          Since the Nick Saban strawman has been burned, UT needs to resurrect Darrell Royal since he's the only coach that's accomplished what the Longhorns seem to demand.

          Here's a reality check: Texas now plays in a conference with Oklahoma so winning the Big 12 fairly regularly is damn tough. That's something Nebraska fans are familar with from the Big 8 (although nobody but me in this forum cares about Nebraska).

            So Akers had two conference championships (in the SWC no less) in nine years. You win almost 10 games per year and you only will two championships? Quite a feat. FTR: I was there right at the end of that run and during the McWilliams era.

            So this tells me Darrell Royal was outstanding, both Akers and Brown had some good seasons but faded badly at the end, and other two coaches were terrible. Sounds about right.

            lol. So it is perfectly reasonable for OU fans to expect regular B12 conference championships, but Texas fans cannot? I see how your logic works now. No real need for this discussion to continue.

              Mack had a nice run. He did some great things for the university. Then he went into a slide and was given several years to turn it around. Time for him to step aside and give someone else a shot. No one person is ever bigger than the program.

                  The Dude this could be very good for you. Urban Meyer is denying any interest in the Texas job. Meyer would be a great hire for Texas.

                              The only cost is the inevitable bad break-up in a few years. Even that isn't that bad as he won't leave the program in bad shape. Meyer is well worth the "cost."
