        • Rod Gilmore names College Football's Top 10 Defenses of 2013:

          1. Michigan State
          2. Florida State
          3. Alabama
          4. Stanford
          5. Wisconsin
          6. South Carolina
          7. Virginia Tech
          8. Oklahoma State
          9. Baylor
          10. BYU

Coach Bronco Mendenhall called this defense the best he's had in his tenure at BYU, principally due to the front seven. A lot of that is because of all-everything LB Kyle Van Noy. Mendenhall's scheme took full advantage of Van Noy's skills by featuring him in pass-rushing situations and putting him in position to disrupt running plays, as well. Like Baylor, BYU's defense spent a lot of time on the field but held up very well. The Cougars allowed only 1.31 points per drive -- well below the FBS average of 1.97.

                • Not surprising.

I wonder if they are talking to the FSU coach. He has to be a hot commodity right now.

Mack Brown has had some impressive recruiting classes the last couple of years, but he passed on the last three Heisman winners. Ouch.

                            • Jay Hill is the new head coach at Weber. Justin Ena is the new DC and Steve Clark is the new OC.

Ena obviously played at BYU. Clark Interviewed for the vacant OC job that ended up going to Doman then again for the WR coach that went to Cahoon.
