No he is the former WR coach at Utah. We went with Meyer to Florida as WR coach. He also was passing game coordinator at LSU for a few years. Last season he was co-OC at Illinois. His time as co-OC at Illinois was not impressive. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

True that. And if not, it is just one of the 10,000 times he has been wrong. People forget all those.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostI think Graham is just connecting the dots on this one. I doubt he has any real source.
Billy Gonzales leaves Illinois today + Utah is looking for a new coach + Gonzales used to be at Utah = Utah hiring him
If you are right, you can claim that you have great sources without having a source.

Does anyone know who really was the head Co-OC(I really don't understand having Co-OCs anyway)? I ask because they fired Beatty, but Gonzales left on his own.

Kevin Graham is the same guy that reported KVN would declare for the draft per his sources, also that Brandon Doman had been retained per his sources, and that Aaron Roderick would not under any circumstance leave Utah (which I guess he was half right about except he spent a full day belittling his sources on the air and the next day puffed his chest).
He is an idiot and has no local connections, why would anybody tell him a thing? Billy Gonzales is of course a possibility and I think Funk has it right. Sometimes it is not hard to connect the dots and throw it out there as a "source".*Banned*

I think most of the time they do a running game coordinator and passing game coordinator but I am not sure who calls the actual plays.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostDoes anyone know who really was the head Co-OC(I really don't understand having Co-OCs anyway)? No clue at all. I haven't followed Gonzales lately and just googled his name when it came up in this thread. The 5 minutes that I spent was probably far more than it was worth to follow-up on a Kevin Graham report.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostDoes anyone know who really was the head Co-OC(I really don't understand having Co-OCs anyway)? We definitely agree on Kevin Graham. It is a damn shame that he shares the air with Kyle Gunther, as I actually enjoy listening to Gunther. Gunther at least knows sports, is entertaining, and probably at least has a couple sources from his days at Utah. Graham doesn't know shit, has not sources, and is dull as hell.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostKevin Graham is the same guy that reported KVN would declare for the draft per his sources, also that Brandon Doman had been retained per his sources, and that Aaron Roderick would not under any circumstance leave Utah (which I guess he was half right about except he spent a full day belittling his sources on the air and the next day puffed his chest).

My guess is Dennis Erickson gets hired as something like "assistant Offensive head coach". His duties will be to oversee the complete implementation of a spread option offense, and tutor Brian Johnson in coaching skills and leadership etc. I expect he'll probably stay for a few years, hopefully more than the one that Norm Chow gave us. He is 65 years old, but I don't think he is going to get another head-coaching opportunity at that age. Norm Chow's was a unique situation given his ethnicity and the fact that HI was his home state, and obviously his success in programs like USC and North Carolina State. Dennis Erickson, while a terrific football coach, last had significant success at Miami over 20 years ago. He has been a solid coach since then, but not a championship winning coach. Also, his tenure at Arizona State didn't exactly wow anyone.

Had there been a 4 team playoff in 2000, Oregon State would have a crystal spittoon in their trophy case. They dropped off after some injuries and the loss of a ton of talent in 2002, he had them back to good in 2002 and the table was set for them to take off in 2003. Then Dennis took off to San Francisco.Originally posted by OrangeUte View PostMy guess is Dennis Erickson gets hired as something like "assistant Offensive head coach". Good point. His career had had several high points. The highest point could be yet to come when he affiliates himself with the Crimson Utes.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostHad there been a 4 team playoff in 2000, Oregon State would have a crystal spittoon in their trophy case. I agree with this. I think it had more to do with the fact that I was attending school there at the time. He went out and got some amazing JC talent. He had 2 NFL WR both of which came from JC. The secondary on that team was sick. Ken Simonton was amazing then. If only they could have had a better than average QB, they would have been unstoppable. Their only loss was by 3 points to the Huskies, who went on to win the Rose Bowl and end up #3 in the polls.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostHad there been a 4 team playoff in 2000, Oregon State would have a crystal spittoon in their trophy case. They were playing amazing football at the end of that year.

Are there any successful models for this approach? It looks like it could work on paper, but don't coaches normally go throught a gauntlet of different jobs with real decision-making responsibility and each hopefully building upon the previous one and eventually preparing one for full responsibility for an offense, defense, or even program? This way you undermine BJ's authority and don't find out if he can do the job and make mostly right decisions when needed.Originally posted by OrangeUte View PostMy guess is Dennis Erickson gets hired as something like "assistant Offensive head coach". For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
