He is probably pretty happy about it. After all, it is not the goal of a d-lineman to prevent your teammates from making great plays. As you've only been a football fan since 2004, I can forgive this oversight. You're still learning, and that's okay.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

I totally agree with you here. As annoying as I always found Slippery Pete Carrol, one thing I always admired about him was he seemed to always be gracious with interviews no matter how ridiculous the questions. He probably understood that they the interviews were silly, but he is on national TV with a mic in his face so he might as well sell himself to those who are watching, including potential recruits.Originally posted by Eddie View PostI understand that coaches get somewhat annoyed with reporters at times. But I wonder how many of them would stick around to coach if you took away all of the TV money and any/all media coverage of their team (which would result in more lost revenue).
Honestly, you can't have it both ways. Without the media, you aren't getting paid and very few folks are showing up to your games. Maybe it is your least favorite part of your job...but let's be honest - we all have parts of our job that we dislike.
That's what I don't get about people like Bronco who are so condescending at times to fans and media. Sure fans are dumb, but without the dumb fans you don't have a job that pays you way more than what it is really worth to society. So part of your job description is to humor dumb fans and reporters sometimes.

It appears as if the pulling center or guard was supposed to chip Clowney, but Clowney was too fast and it appears as if we was also going to stunt.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostWow, I wonder how the d-lineman who didn't even touch Clowney feels about that play?
You have to also understand that Clowney is the best defensive prospect to come along in at least a decade. We're going to have a Clowney sweepstakes in the NFL this year and it's for a defensive end.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Perhaps Jadeveon Clowney is the best defensive prospect this decade (2010-2019) but its still a little early. It wasn't that long ago that Ndamukong Suh was the best defensive prospect to come along...Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostYou have to also understand that Clowney is the best defensive prospect to come along in at least a decade. Maybe we just give Suh the (2000-2009) award but I haven't looked closely at others who could lay claim to it. Also, the stats in the table below are from Suh's Jr and Sr years while the stats for Clowney are Fr and Soph. So maybe Clowney will be a better NFL prospect. Which leads to something else thats significant...I don't think Clowney is eligible for the NFL draft until 2014 so the "Clowney Sweepstakes" will have to wait another year. I'm sure Steve Spurrier is all broken up over the wait.
Anyway, the "best defensive prospect" is somewhat subjective. Here are some ojective stats:

I don't understand your post. Clowney had a year comparable to Suh's last year and he's only a true Sophomore. Maybe you're going all Indy on us and saying Clowney needs more tackles while ignoring the numbers on the sacks and tackles for loss? The Clowney sweepstakes obviously wasn't this year, it's happening next year. The Chiefs got hosed in a year where no one is a demonstrative #1 overall pick. But we're going to see a more subdued suck for Luck type of performances by a couple teams.Originally posted by Paperback Writer View PostPerhaps Jadeveon Clowney is the best defensive prospect this decade (2010-2019) but its still a little early. What does the SEC have this bowl season, two close wins over mediocre Big Ten teams? If Alabama loses, this will have been the worst year for the SEC in nearly a decade. They may well be back on top next year, but for someone who is sick of the S-E-C chants, this bowl season has been refreshing.Originally posted by USU Coug View PostFlorida loses to Louisville? Just pointing out that Suh played less than a decade ago so the statement that "Clowney is the best defensive prospect to come along in at least a decade" is somewhat subjective - an opinion. My opinion is that a good argument can be made that Suh played at a comparable level with Clowney and may prove to be the better college player or NFL prospect. Clowney still has youth on his side and another 1-2 years to play at South Carolina. So Clowney may end up being the better NFL prospect but has yet to surpass Suh on objective criteria like the stats I posted. That's why I propose that Suh be given the best defensive player/prospect for 2000-2009 and Clowney be given that title for 2010-2019.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostI don't understand your post. Next year in the NFL will be interesting when teams start losing early. Not sure a DE (Clowney) can turn a team around in the same manner as a QB (Luck).“Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory.”
