Nebraska was booted from AAU after they got into the big 10. Given that and their football performance foe the last 15 years, we are extremely lucky to be in the Big 10. And my 16 year old self would punch me if he heard me say that.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View Post
Oregon may be the best chip left on the Pac 12 table:
Edit: They may be losing that AAU status... Of course, that didn't stop the B1G for inviting Nebraska.

Why only focus on moving West when Duke, NC, and UVA are sitting out there all pretty and stuff? Renew those rivalries with MD.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

The SEC needs to go on the hunt for Clemson and FSU if ND goes B1G. If the B1G doesn't hurry up and get UW and O then the Big 12 needs to make them a deal they can't refuse.Ranking college football's most valuable programs
[...]
19. Washington Huskies
Estimated annual value: $92 million
Washington hopes the hire of Kalen DeBoer brings instant credibility to a program that has fallen on hard times since Chris Petersen's departure. The contract is for five years and worth up to $16.5 million before incentives kick in based on DeBoer's level of success. Seems affordable compared to other signings this cycle, doesn't?
[...]
T-15. Oregon Ducks
Estimated annual value: $96 million
With Nike founder Phil Knight as the program's biggest donor is making sure to fill its current coaching vacancy following Mario Cristobal's departure to Miami with the right choice. The Ducks have one of college football's most recognizable brands and is trying to get back to its heightened level of success sustained under Chip Kelly's reign.

8. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Estimated annual value: $120 million
Notre Dame enters an era of somewhat uncertainly in 2022 with 35-year-old defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman taking over as a first-time head coach, this coming after Brian Kelly unexpectedly left for LSU without notice. Fans are energized and ready to support Freeman, but like all new coaches, the wins must come early."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

I was listening to the College Football Enquirer podcast this morning and according to them, bringing in Maryland and Rutgers brought $2 per cable box in those regions to pay for the BIG network, a huge financial windfall and revenue stream. With more and more people cutting the cable, that incentive for carrying Rutgers starts to disappear.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View Post

So unsuspecting New York cable subscribers subsidized the Big 10 network? Shrewd. No wonder they are such a financial powerhouse.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

One thing is bothering me. If I’m Notre Dame, why the hell do I want into this? I understand the Super Conference stuff with playoffs etc. But what are the chances that Notre Dame is left out of the playoff system if not in a conference? I mean really??? In what universe is ND left out in the cold? One thing I know about ND is they love control. Giving up even a small part of control is not in their wheelhouse. There is no way they are going to want to share in anything…especially football.
Am I wrong?

Seems to me this is the direction the whole country is going. The rich, super urban, coastal areas giving the finger to everyone else. What now? These parts bolt to Europe?
The backlash is what gave us Trump.

Seattle Ute is like England in relation to Europe. When you talk to the British about their place in the world it's all about them when times are good, but if something catastrophic happens in which they need help, they say, "Aren't we all Europeans?"Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostSeems to me this is the direction the whole country is going. If you know me, you know I don't care much about this.
I’ve learned a long time ago that in this country, change is what it’s about and the happiest people don’t fight it but ride the wave.
But if this is about college football trying to be more like the NFL, I think it loses its competitive advantage.
Without tradition, regional pride, the localized rivalries, the federalist element, what else is there?
We don’t have conferences anymore. Just big blobs.
As far as just the game stripped down goes, the NFL is faster, just better, more dazzling.
This wouldn’t be the first time an element of the sports industry that was preeminent committed suicide because of foolish business decisions. See MLB.When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
