Not sure why that is. BYU fans too cheap to buy gear? BYU fans embarassed to wear gear in non-game situations because BYU is perceived as "dorky"? Ute fans more likely to be gainfully employed in jobs where dressing up and looking professional is not required, ie. gas stations, so they just need more casual clothes?
Well-played, sir, well-played. I shall exact revenge someday, at a time and place of my choosing....

With other schools it just shows support for a university, with BYU gear it also throws the Mormon thing in there.

That's why I don't own much BYU gear. Though it is a great conversation starter watching a game in the bar...
Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

LOL at BYU fans that want to

          Fire a head coach who

          1. Has won 10 or more games more often than not
          2. Has struggled for years to win the "big game"
          3. Has an offense that seems to struggle in the red zone more and more each year
          4. Favors a running QB who has a serious issue with turnovers
          5. Who fired the last defensive coordinator in the middle of the season
          6. Who is completely emotionless on the sideline
          7. Who is increasingly looked at as having lost his passion for the game

          For a head coach who

          1. Has won 10 or more games more often than not
          2. Has struggled for years to win the "big game"
          3. Has an offense that seems to struggle in the red zone more and more each year

Maybe they just need a change of scenery. I can see Bronco succeeding in Philly.

Let me quote our esteemed CUF colleague Eddie, who most accurately surmised my position back then:

                  http://www.cougarboard.com/board/mes...tml?id=2493306

Just the opinion of someone else on the outside...

...but I don't necessarily agree with you, Mike.

My experience has been that Indy tends to refute people who whine and complain while throwing out information that is not accurate. His response tends to be to refute the inaccurate information.

Honestly - while I don't always agree with everything Indy says, at least he backs it up with facts and stats.

When someone cries "Beck isn't very accurate" and then Indy responds with stats that demonstrate he is actually on the upper end of accuracy - that isn't to say Beck is the best QB ever, just that the info being spouted off is not accurate and thus the player is being unfairly judged. (In this instance, Beck's accuracy is a purely hypothetical example. More to demonstrate how the dialogue occurs versus an attempt to convey an actual exchange.)

If you have difficulty backing up your opinion with actual factual data, then you will have a problem with Indy.

You are welcome to post your own opinion all you like. But be prepared to be called on it. Claims that Indy can't recognize when things go wrong just because he confronts you during instances that there is evidence your opinion is wrong doesn't mean he can't see that everything isn't peachy.

This confirms my suspicion that Indy is an automaton.

This confirms my suspicion that falafel is perpetually one of the least substantive posters on this site. This thread is resolving so many unanswered questions!

I'll need to see some stats backing this up before I accept your conclusion.

C'mon. I think people here know Eddie well enough by now to know he's nobody's groupie.

                              2. Has struggled for years to win the "big game" Making the NFC championship game and super bowl in the NFL is not the same accomplishment as scheduling Boise State and losing.
                              3. Has an offense that seems to struggle in the red zone more and more each year This appears to be a fair complaint, but it is a risk I am willing to take given his long-term coaching experience and success at the highest levels of football. Also, struggling in the red zone in the NFL does not necessarily mean he would struggle in the red zone in college
                              4. Favors a running QB who has a serious issue with turnovers Kolb didn't turn out to be the great QB Arizona thought he was. Over his career spaning multiple decades he has worked with plenty of offenses (both run and pass heavy) and groomed plenty of QBs (both mobile and immobile) that I am comfortable with his track record.
                              5. Who fired the last defensive coordinator in the middle of the season How is this relevant?
                              6. Who is completely emotionless on the sideline How is this relevant?
                              7. Who is increasingly looked at as having lost his passion for the game Fair point. I don't want him to coach BYU if he doesn't want to coach BYU
Yes I started this thread, but the likelihood of BYU hiring Reid is extremely remote.

Besides items #1 and #5, the rest are fan complaints I've heard about both coaches. Whether or not they are relevant or accurate is purely a secondary consideration.
