Apparently USC sold its 2,000 seats to this game, so the south/west corner of the endzone could be pretty full of trojans. The game is sold out and the U just released extra standing room only tickets. with a 7pm starting time, there should be a good crowd at kickoff. i would love to be there. RES is a good place to watch a football game.

DDD - I wish i could put together a visitor's guide for you to enjoy the game. but, you have already been there, and other than telling you to look for the big japanese drum between the 3rd and 4th quarters, i wouldn't know what to really say.

i hope the crowd is loud and that the Utes come out healthy and rested and hungry.

i will be disappointed if the Utes come out with no fire on offense to begin the game. i would like to see some no-huddle possessions and an amped up Ute offense that plays with confidence and urgency right out of the gate.

as for the defense. we need to get into man coverage and get to barkley. hardly rocket science. if we play USC in zone coverage, it will look like we are just trying to control the damage. we need to be aggressive from the beginning to the end.

    wish i was going.

If whit were smart, he would have Hays throw at Torin harris all night long. Away from Robey, towards Harris.

I will be there for you!

Some lineup changes for the Utes.

Utah's defense was down two starters to injury in its last game (a loss at ASU): free safety Eric Rowe and defensive end Joe Kruger. Both are expected back for the USC game ... Making his first start as a Ute vs. ASU was sophomore linebacker Jacoby Hale. Hale and Victor Spikes, who got his first action of the season against ASU, are the new co-starters at rover ... Moving up to second on the running back depth chart after a career game against ASU is junior college transfer Kelvin York ... Redshirt freshman Siaosi Aiono, who played in his first game as a Ute against ASU after an injury to starter Vyncent Jones, will start this week at right guard ... V.J. Fehoko is now in the three deep at both stud linebacker and left end ... Reggie Topps replaces Moe Lee as one starting corner. Ryan Lacy holds down the other corner spot ... Two true freshmen have played for Utah this season: quarterback Travis Wilson and OL Jeremiah Poutasi.

Word on the street is that true Freshman Reshawn Hooker has had his redshirt pulled and will be starting at linebacker as well.

Sounds like Whit is realizing that he can't sock away talent or speed anymore.

utah is a 14 point dog at home to a team that only beat Cal by 18 at home. A 1-4 Cal team whose only win was against southern utah. SC hasnt even looked good this year against anyone. whitt is good after bye weeks.

I will take utah and the points.

I can't tell if this is serious or not. EVERYONE looks great against Hawaii.

SC really hasn't had a breakout game yet that makes you scared shatless to play them. I do believe they are capable though, and if they start fast against utah this could be the one.

i wonder how much tight end play we will see tomorrow night from the utes. that has been one area that the utes have underutilized despite good performance so far.

Perhaps the condescending ass poster who is by far the most active poster in this thread (and the board, possibly the world) is keeping activity down.

Then again the Utes most recent performance is probably convincing people that the outcome is a foregone conclusion.

                          I'd call it 50/50.

Sometimes work actually interferes with game talk. I am excited for the game. From a style standpoint, our 4-3 matches up better with proset offense than we did against asu's spread. USC will try to stretch the field vertically, where the spread stretches it horizontally. This is an easier offense for us to defend because it allows the pass rush to be more of a factor. It also allows the coverage to play more two over, man under, which protects against Blechen's weakness in coverage. Rowe is back as is Joe Kruger so we will be at fill strength on defense for the first game all season. Rowe needs to have a big game and should have some chances to make plays on the ball. I think the defense will keep us in the game similar to last season.

Offensively, I just don't know what to expect. Two freshman on the right side doesn't exactly evoke confidence. That said, JW IV needs to return to form last year, where he looks to turn 3 yards gains into 5 yard gains instead of thing to turn the same into 15 yard (and only getting 1 because of too much dancing in the hole). Likewise, Hays needs to play within what he can do, and not try to be a hero.
"The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."

"They talk about the economy this year. Hey, my hairline is in recession, my waistline is in inflation. Altogether, I'm in a depression."

"I like to bike. I could beat Lance Armstrong, only because he couldn't pass me if he was behind me."

                                -Rick Majerus
