Really sad for Famika Anae. The line could use his 'tude. They suck and gt no push on running plays. Watched Hanson get pushed back a yard or two deep on most run plays.

I understand dumbing down the playbook, but when is the last time we passed the ball to a back on a swing or a screen? You can dumb down the calls and still be creative. I don't like the first and goal QB draw we run each and every time we are there.

Someone needs to teach Hill and Jamal how to play action. They aren't fooling 10 year old with that weak shit.

Need to get the ball into Hoffmans hands more somehow, I don't want to waste his time here.

That last play when we could have went with three kneels and ended the game but instead did a QB keep? I wanted to punch BD.

Having not watched the tv, my impression of USU is they have really good corners and coverage. Apo struggled with his blocking on some run plays and he has been a good blocker.

BYU defense is filthy. To do what they did to Charley and William (seriously 18 yards on 14 and 23 on 10 is just ridiculous). If they perform to close the this level the next two weeks, best defense the state has ever seen.

I expected a "we still have confidence in our kicker and will kick it when we have the opportunity". I always want a coach to tell us want they are truly thinking but I was shocked when he said that.

As for the game, our defense is just plain filthy. Bronco for all of his faults deserves all the praise for their play. And not just their play but his patience and recruiting of guys like KVN and Ansah. And props to Kaufusi and everyone else involved with the defense (even Nick Howell, though he really needs to coach up PHad on getting his hips around. He has some poor technique and it allows guys to get behind him despite his 15 yard bump). In 6 games they have given up just 3 TDs. That is ridiculous even if the competition hasn't been great. KVN is one sack shy of leading the country. As a team BYU is 5th in the country in sacks despite dropping 8 often. They're also 3rd in passes deflected. The most yards we've given up all year was 261 to Boise State. Going back to last season I think we have a long string of holding teams under 300 yards. This is the best defense at BYU, ever.

We're exactly midway through our schedule at this point (season is going by too fast!). The defense has not given up a touchdown in four of those six games. The defense has not given up a touchdown to Mike Leach, Chris Peterson or Norm Chow. The defense has not given up a touchdown in its last twelve quarters of play (3 points total given up in that same twelve quarters). In six games the defense has only given up two touchdowns that didn't start on their side of the field (both against Weber )

I realize none of these teams are world beaters, but damn.

The kickers were openly and loudly mocked after halftime. Wild cheers from the student section when they chipped in PAT kicks. I kind of felt bad for them - but they do suck. Badly.

Not by the head coach in the media, in the middle of a game. They are not professionals.

Yeah nothing would be better for recruiting than revoking scholies after each year to a bunch of under performers who you just 1-3 years earlier were sitting in their living room telling them they were the next great thing. That's what parents and HS coaches want to push kids towards.

That offense was hard to watch. I think I'd rather have Nelson than Hill right now. I hope he can get healthy. Hill's got potential, but he's not going to beat anyone at this stage of his career. I rate Hill a 3.5 and Nelson a 5. (Hsaru, in case you wanted to know how Heaps fits in there, Heaps is a 4 on that scale)

There's no way that Riley is better than Hill right now. Hill is faster and has a stronger arm. He's a legitimate running threat where Riley is just a fairly mobile qb with no arm who is quick to check off to a qb draw and bail out of the pocket. Riley has no deep threat, and tends to lock in on his primary receiver and bails if he's not available.

Riley is not in any way shape or form a div1 qb. It's embarrassing that he's ever been a started at BYU. Without legs, Riley is a train wreck - not even a legitimate div3 qb...

I think it is clear that Riley Stephenson is nursing an injury. He has been a very good punter in his career and recently has looked horrible with no leg velocity or extension. Sorenson definitely looks like guys do when they get injured for the first time and have no idea how to deal with it. He will never be the same until he gets his head right.

Doman sucks. If I had a kid who was a recruit for BYU football and the kid wanted to play offense I would send him out of state. Football in Utah is bad this year because the offensive coordinators suck.

Hill should be a running back. He would be great. I believe he could become a QB but not playing for Brandon Doman.

Our O-line is part of the problem but it is unclear to me how they've gotten so bad. I believe much of their problems originate with RB and QB coaching. Our running backs used to run laterally for a short distance then hit the hole hard. Now they start dancing the moment they touch the ball. Dupaix has been an unmitigated failure at RB coach. He should be sacked and Reynolds should move back to RB coach. Our QBs are the worst type to block for. They ad lib, dance around, check plays constantly at the line, and generally make it hard for the line. In short, Weber has had good lines but his lines have sucked since BD became the OC and Dupaix became the RB coach. In other words, we need to figure out who is really to blame and I suspect it isn't Weber.

Our receivers are very good. Its a shame we have shit for plays and the wrong kinds of QBs. These poor guys are watching their careers be wasted by a bad OC and a safety or RB at QB.
