Yet at this point a healthy Riley may just give BYU a better chance to win than Taysom.

Personally I think they start Taysom this week so the arguments will have to wait for OSU.

Which could make it an easy or very difficult decision for Bronco, depending on how Hill performs. Oh and personally, I think Nelson starts this week.

I haven't talked to my usual source so I have no info to go on. I'm just guessing Taysom will start. I'm sure at this moment you have better info than I.

The funny thing about Riley is that if he were at Utah State still there would be no QB controversy and he'd be backing up Chuckie Keeton.

I was told recently that his family believes that Riley would be receiving all of the attention and accolades that Keeton is getting now. They are also regretful of their decision to encourage Riley to transfer, as it was a knee jerk reaction to his dad getting the boot at USU. I guess this explains why his brother went to USU and not BYU. When told this, I asked directly whether his family really thinks that Riley is a good QB. The answer was an emphatic yes.

At this point I'm no longer interested in Riley. He is a distraction that brings no great upside for the cost of admission. It gets old wondering what is going on at the most important position on the team and watching the coaching staff bungle their way through 3 years of ineptitude. It will be nice when he is gone and we can move on to the next era, whatever it may be, because this one has hit the glass ceiling. It feels like one of those times when it is best for everyone to simply move on.

There could be several reasons why Bronco wants Riley back. Riley of course knows the system better than Taysom so the offense can become more complex if necessary. What if Taysom starts but gets hurt running the ball? It would be nice to have Riley as a backup in that situation. Also the possibility exists that Bronco has watched a healthy Riley and Taysom in practice and has a much better idea of who's better than us speculating fans. (That point was made yesterday again on 1280 by a former D1 quarterback.) It could be that we don't know as much about Taysom as we would like to think because he beat a horrible Hawaii team.
You may very well be right, but I fear Bronco is digging in his heals over principal and because he views his authority is being questioned. I've seen plenty of otherwise smart and capable grown men make terrible professional decisions because of some emotional attachment or some perceived disrespect of their sovereignty (myself included).

Who's questioning his authority? Fans? Bronco doesn't give a rats ass what we think. Press? He really doesn't care much what they think either.

Amen. I thought the QB controversy ended with Jake transferring.

The only thing I disagree with here is your characterization of Riley's ceiling as glass. A glass ceiling is both difficult to see and possible, if difficult, to break through.

I don't hate Riley, but I am completely on board with your last paragraph.

Bronco's just upset that he doesn't get the same respect as the other general authorities.

                              That's unpossible.

                                This is a possibility.
