Even more. This is stupid. All they are talking about on the radio this morning is WOULD BYU KEEP PLAYING IF IT WENT INTO SUNDAY? and WHO IS MEANER? Then you have shit like this? People are stupid, this video is stupid, and the rivalry is getting beyond stupid if these are the talking points.

This has always been the case. BYU fans love to cite examples of "anti mormonism" among Ute fans. Ute fans love to show any example of religious hypocrisy. The Utes storm the field 3 times. Just another game? The Utes and their fans have moved on? Hardly. Both fanbases are obsessed, regardless of what they say to the contrary. It is the biggest game of the year and a win over each other means more than any other win because it carries with it the daily social ramifications that permeate this rivalry. I mean, quite honestly, after BYU beat Oklahoma and Utah beat Alabama, what was the first reaction by the majority of both fan bases? It wasn't to taunt or gloat over OU or Tide fans. It was to rush back and gloat over BYU (post Sugar Bowl) or Utah (post Blue River ShootOUt) fans.

Regarding this video clip, fans of any team that do stuff like this in the heat of the moment are exercising poor judgment, imo. You could tell by the kids voice in the video that he was prepubescent. The last thing you want to do is taunt a D1 football player that is upset, angry, probably not in the mood to make great decisions, is wearing a helmet and pads, and could lay w.a.s.t.e. to you physically in a matter of seconds. The guy in the suspenders....what was he doing??? Bronco is surrounded by cops, for crying out loud. A similar display was the BYU fan that was trying to provoke or attack Whit's wife a few years back. What in the world are these boneheads trying to accomplish??

The game is being rebroadcast by ESPN on 18th (alhough they tend to edit out parts). And then on the 22nd, it will be rebroadcast on BYU TV.

The plain fact of the matter is the fan was somewhere he shouldn't be, on the field, and Falslev was where he should be. Nothing about what Falslev did there is wrong. In fact, he probably was justified in doing more if the person was taunting him from on the field.

The rivalry has been out of hand for several years, and for me, it's taken away a lot of the enjoyment I used to have for the rivalry. I hope the upcoming hiatus will temper the idiocy a bit.

It has no bearing on anything and will quickly be over and they will be on to the next topic in no time.

BM would have been justified if he decked suspenders boy. BM belongs on the field, suspenders boy does not.

Utah needs to get control of this rushing the field bullshit. I'm not sure of the answers. I hate this in college football and basketball. I have never been a fan of rushing the field or court. It is dangerous. If you want to let fans on the field after the opposing team is gone to celebrate, I'm fine with that but you are asking for trouble when the team is still out there. Also, the chance of injuries in the mad dash that people make to the field/court makes this practice very dangerous.

One can hope but, I have my doubts. "That guy" at church will still make dumb rivalry comments, talk radio hacks will still stir the pot between the two fan bases to try and drive listeners. Message boards will still be a bastion if dumb rivalry smack. Any success by one program will be compared to the other.
In short I think we'll all be as stupid as we've ever been.
