I forgot one thing in my post-game analysis.

Ziggy became a man vs the Utes. He was all over the place making plays. Watching him grow from a dude with physical tools and nothing else to what he has become has been fascinating. I'm really looking forward to seeing his continued growth this season.

Utah needs to get control of this rushing the field bullshit. I'm not sure of the answers. I hate this in college football and basketball. I have never been a fan of rushing the field or court. It is dangerous. If you want to let fans on the field after the opposing team is gone to celebrate, I'm fine with that but you are asking for trouble when the team is still out there. Also, the chance of injuries in the mad dash that people make to the field/court makes this practice very dangerous.

I saw a kid slip and fall in the front of the line when they were all running on to the field and I feared for his life. I thought he would get trampled.

One fan went directly in front of an exiting Nebraska player and began taunting and yelling right in his face. The player promptly decked the fan and continued jogging to the locker room. I think he knocked him out cold and later faced assault charges.

look how spread out the fans are on the field. There is order down there. It is safe.

This has always been the case. BYU fans love to cite examples of "anti mormonism" among Ute fans. Ute fans love to show any example of religious hypocrisy. The Utes storm the field 3 times. Just another game? The Utes and their fans have moved on? Hardly. Both fanbases are obsessed, regardless of what they say to the contrary. It is the biggest game of the year and a win over each other means more than any other win because it carries with it the daily social ramifications that permeate this rivalry. I mean, quite honestly, after BYU beat Oklahoma and Utah beat Alabama, what was the first reaction by the majority of both fan bases? It wasn't to taunt or gloat over OU or Tide fans. It was to rush back and gloat over BYU (post Sugar Bowl) or Utah (post Blue River ShootOUt) fans.

Regarding this video clip, fans of any team that do stuff like this in the heat of the moment are exercising poor judgment, imo. You could tell by the kids voice in the video that he was prepubescent. The last thing you want to do is taunt a D1 football player that is upset, angry, probably not in the mood to make great decisions, is wearing a helmet and pads, and could lay w.a.s.t.e. to you physically in a matter of seconds. The guy in the suspenders....what was he doing??? Bronco is surrounded by cops, for crying out loud. A similar display was the BYU fan that was trying to provoke or attack Whit's wife a few years back. What in the world are these boneheads trying to accomplish??

All true, and I don't mind gloating at all. In fact my employees have hanged a "Welcome to Ute Nation" on my door this morning. All in good fun, even the gloating here is great.

I guess I am just fed up with the reactions of the fans to the players and institutions and it is just hitting me today.
