Kyle Whittington had earned zero benefit of the doubt in his handling of qbs

Is there anyone at Utah you don't hate, mp?

I get your anger towards Chris Hill. I share it. But WTF are you on Whittingham's case?

Congrats Utes! I predicted a Utah win and I was right. Feels good.

I don't hate Whittingham. However, I'm extremely concerned with the direction of the offense. The BJ hire and his handling of QBs have both been awful.

-Murphy is a stud. His individual effort throughout the game was awesome. And the route to make it 34-0 was a thing of beauty. Fake the out, Wynn uses his eyes to draw the coverage, and Murphy cuts back to the post wide-open. Great stuff.*

-Great to see Wilson get two TD's and put that package on film for USU and beyond. His leap on his first carry was awesome.*

-Reilly and Fakahafua on the ends are so disruptive. Hands in passing lanes; pursuing all over the field; capable in coverage. Both are great weapons to have.*

-NoCo's game-plan seemed to be challenge our corners with screens and quick passes, but they shed their blocks pretty well and tackled well.*

-Coleman Petersen's performance was, uh, well, it leaves plenty of room for improvement.*

-I liked the aggressiveness on 4th down. I hope it's maintained against more capable opponents.*

We broke 40 points; we allowed none; and gave up just north of 100 yards. Plus, I didn't notice any injuries. It wasn't perfect, certainly, but I'm satisfied.*
Gotta love optimistic fans. How about some realism. Wynn looked bad to average and the stats bear it out. 27 passes for 200 yards and a pick against the same team that Idaho scored 50 on last year is an embarrassment. I would be saying the same thing if it were a BYU QB. John White ran 24 times for 115 yards. Really? Against Northern Colorado? That's a good line for him against USC. I'm not saying they can't get better, but both the passing and run games were extremely underwhelming when you consider the competition. Sorry to crash the thread, but sometimes a reality check can be helpful. Again, ute fans, you played a NoCo team that didn't win a game and lost got blown out by Idaho last year. These are numbers from your offense that would be considered mediocre in conference play, let alone against a bad FCS team.

The shutout by the defense? Anything less would be disappointing.

BYU plays Weber next week - Weber is better than NoCo (everybody is), but they suck - if Riley can't do better than 27 passes for 200 and a pick and Alisa can't do better than 4-5 ypc, I will be making similar comments about my team.

              You are extremely concerned?

Other than having a spell of not recruiting enough QBs and having Wynn injured, what are you talking about regarding the handling of QBs?

Also, why don't you let BJ coach a few games before we dismiss the hire as a bad hire.

He's coached one game. Against UNCO. Of course the game plan was going to be Vanilla. It didn't seem we had too many problems with the game management. Plays were getting called in just fine. The offense looked organized, if unspectacular. Timeouts were taken appropriately. What is there to gripe about Brian Johnson after game 1?

It must be difficult being so objective. Thanks for the reality check.

Based solely on what I saw last night from both teams, if BYU gives up more than 10 points to Utah, I will be pissed.

                      • Ignore the trolls, Ute fans. I am predicting a clash of undefeated teams when BYU rolls into RES in 2 weeks.

I thought so. That's why I share them, silly. My team or not, I'm always willing to help!

                            BYU will be undefeated.

Utah has an obstacle. If Utah's O-line and QB don't wake the hell up, then Utah might be looking avoid falling to 1-2.

The USU game has me uneasy. It has for weeks. USU is going to be bonkers. They will be substantially better on defense than NoCo.

It's been easy for both Utah and BYU fans to write off the USU game as an easy win for years. BYU now knows that isn't the case. I think Utah is going to find out on Friday.

Doesn't Utah State have a really good WR? I'm curious to see how Keaton evolves from last year to this year, especially with the loss of Turbin as a go-to weapon.

I'm not crying for you, Argentina. The Utes will win.

I agree with TD, Utah wins this game fairly easy. USU will struggle with Utah's defense. 24-10, utes.
