While plenty have come back and been very good players, plenty of hyped recruits have left never to really have amounted to much on the field.
We have a player that committed to a marginal BCS school, who didn't academically qualify and who may still not academically qualify AND is/was planning on a mission. That's just too much overhead for me to spend any time or energy tracking someone like this closely.

        Thanks, Frank. Very strong work.

So a non-LDS kid who likes the BYU environment goes to the biggest party school out there.

                Makes sense.

Davion Orphey, CB juco Santa Ana JC
This guy is a must get player in my book. His film shows him to be an excellent cover corner. He picked BYU over Utah, which is also an added plus. Orphey, on paper, should have a good shot at taking over for Preston Hadley.

I'd go to Utah if I was a defensive back as well. They have a history of putting a decent amount of those guys in the NFL. I don't remember the last one BYU put in the NFL. Aaron Francisco? Before that I can't remember anyone.

This one is always my favorite, and every fanbase reaches for it when all hope is lost.

                      • BYU signed a different JC kid a week or two ago.

I wonder if they knew this was coming.

                        • So how bad is this loss of Orphey and the secondary next year? Cornerback is by far the weakest area for BYU... always has been. BYU's defense has benefited from only playing one decent QB this year.

Edit - Also, where are they going to end up putting Hine? Maybe he can pick up CB?

                          • Indy mentioned Rafael Gaglianone in another thread. I had never heard of him before, so I asked Mr. Google, and came across an interesting sight, devoted solely to ranking kickers. Unfortunately, it is pretty sparse on personal info, so I don't know what their hobbies are, and who I should hope BYU avoids recruiting
