He has learned to trust his lineman to make sure he has room to run and if not then take the 3 yards and live to fight another play.
I think him coming to that conclusion aids his post season. I think as he fixes his mission body this offseason he can add 10 lbs without losing any speed. I think next year his improvements are:

1.) Decisiveness as he will understand exactly what type of back he is.

2.) Delivering more of a blow at contact with a more physically mature 225 -230 lbs.

3.) Better hands/understanding of his role as a pass catcher.

Right but the competition also got worse. I like Alisa. I hope he turns into Curtis Brown like Goat predicts. But I am not buying yet.

I agree with you that the competition has become weaker. But I have to think that this team has improved a little bit. Even if half of the improvement is due to just getting better and half due to schedule I like where we are headed.

Look at what Alisa did against TCU who was way down defensively this year. Sorry but the 2010 sapped any enthusiasm for progress. After Heaps 2nd half I was sure this year would be special especially with our OL back and with a million starts between them all. Speaking of which we're going to have some green guys on the line next year for Alisa to run behind.

Have we not yet learned that BYU OL is more consistent in life than me posting about fake hooters?

We break in a new line with a new gang of green kids, they play pretty well. We get hyped and start talking about top 5 OL and greatest OL ever at BYU...yadda..yadda..yadda. OL plays as seasoned players about as good as they did as green players. We whine like the women of Srbrnca and call for the dismissal of BYU's OL coach. Then we break in a new gang of OL and the cycle takes you back to the first sentence in this paragraph.

BYU's OL will be good next year, probably as good as it was this year and every year since about 2006.

I mean, it's roughly 3 or 4 times as much prep as we get for our Thursday/Friday TCU games and look how that's turned out for us.

Are Bronco's balls salty or sweet?

                    • This thread is longer than BYU's time spent on bowl prep.

Indy's response: just think how well they'd play with this kind of dedication. Tired line-toeing sarcasm is fun!

IMO, BYU has had two poor bowl perfomances. The win over UCLA when the fumble right before half put BYU in a 2nd half funk that almost resulted in the game being squandered away and the Arizona game. IMO, I think Mendenhall has had BYU more ready to play that Edwards routinely did. BYU has blown out 3 bowl opponents and one of those opponents was actually good.

Other than the Arizona game, where I think BYU fans had the right to whine like the women of Srbrnca, I think BYU fans should enjoy the bowl rides.

Funny. I've been called both a stringpuller and a line-toer within the space of an hour.

                            • Seems as though Pat Muttnam no longer academically eligible to play in the bowl.
