tOSU vs. TOSU. I'll have to look it up. I could be using one that fans like YO use as a mockery of Ohio State. I have no idea. I could of sworn I saw it used on BuckeyePlanet so I adopted it. With all the schools that have OSU as their abbreviation, I add it to distinguish it from the others (But who cares, ya'll know who I am talking about)..
I would just like to point out that Les Miles is a Michigan guy..
EDIT: I looked around and cannot see any reason why they use a little "t" vs. a capital "T". But it is used to to denote "The" or what many players use "Thee"..
But I am not sure it is that big of a deal. Or a knock on the school. You have many other schools that use abbreviations for their university. USC or SC, Southern Cal. Not to confuse with USC/South Carolina, or UT (Texas) and T (Tennessee).. Okie St.,
All of these schools use these different abbreviations for their school. Are they mocking their school too? I think it has to do with what people used and it just grew from there..Last edited by dabrockster; 08-08-2013, 05:07 AM.

Well, that's the sad part. All these huge buck fans don't realize that they are mocking their school. What's next, refusing to sing 'Carmen Ohio?'Originally posted by dabrockster View PosttOSU vs. TOSU. I'll have to look it up I could be using one that fans like YO use as a mockery of Ohio State. Of course, it is used to denote the 'The'. But then it completely undermines it. If the definite article isn't capitalized then it isn't a necessary part of title and by writing it that way you're indicating that people only add the 'the' because they have some fetish about the definite article (as opposed to the state legislature a 100 years ago imposing their fetish about the definite article on to the university). Look, this is a school instructs their faculty to use and capitalize the 'The' in all written communication about the school. Fans treating the 'The' lightly is a small perversion of the name. Is it a big deal? No, of course not. It is what I said it was: mild mockery of the name. And honestly, the definite article thing deserves some mild mockery. It is just a bit funny that the most hardcore fans have joined in on the mild mockery.EDIT: I looked around and cannot see any reason why they use a little "t" vs. a capital "T". LOL, this may not be the worst strawman ever but it is dangerously close. But I am not sure it is that big of a deal. Or a knock on the school. Pelag. take a breath.... calm down... Throwing out the idea we would stop singing "Carmen Ohio" leads me to think you are taking this too seriously. The use of t vs. T, isn't really going to diminish anything in the blottosphere of the internet.. But with your helpful explanation I can adjust accordingly.. My response was just that. Wish I knew where this "t" began.. Its interesting.. But as you pointed out. It doesn't matter so who cares...Originally posted by pelagius View PostWell, that's the sad part. The official names of other schools also contain the definitive article, e.g., The Pennsylvania State University. Only OSU makes a big deal out of it. It's weird, like OSU is insecure about whether they're really the state university. Maybe we should start calling them aOSU.

that should be anOSU, right? Which then provides fodder for juvenile jokes I would never make but that Yohio would surely be happy to deliver. .Originally posted by woot View PostThe official names of other schools also contain the definitive article, e.g., The Pennsylvania State University. Now we're making progress. I think the buck fans could make a nice call and response at of that to replace the old OH-IO thing.Originally posted by creekster View Postthat should be anOSU, right? Are your kids still tOSU fans? About a year ago my daughter came home wearing a pink Buckeye t-shirt after a shopping trip with her aunt. I've since put safeguards in place and I'm monitoring the situation very carefully.Originally posted by pelagius View PostNow we're making progress. Not really. They've come around to being BYU fans. The buckeye propaganda has faded enough. They are still pretty lukewarm football fans in general, but BYU is the university the care about the most. On the other hand (in a shameful moment), my wife did buy the baby (while we were in Columbus for a wedding) some sort of buckeye dress (and the baby seems to wear it with a greater frequency than most things).Originally posted by YOhio View PostAre your kids still tOSU fans? YOhio, I am surprised we haven't seen a review from you about "Teen Beach Movie." I think it is at least as deserving as the "Pregnancy Pact" which you reviewed. (And given I mentioned the Pregnancy Pact I think it remains topical for this thread ... hard imagine there hasn't been one involving Urban Meyer's players).Originally posted by YOhio View PostAre your kids still tOSU fans?
