I'm only saying that Georgia isn't especially good and they didn't beat anyone of note. That's not controversial, is it? The 3 best SEC teams were in the west, so Georgia had a pretty easy road to their conference championship, not playing any of the top SEC teams, getting worked by Boise, etc.

In this pre-season poll (
): BYU is not ranked.

Bronco just said that he wanted Riley to move to safety last year. That he was 100% committed to Heaps.

Bronco said that even after watching Nelson win the '11 spring game, his mindset was that "no matter what (Nelson) did," he'd be the back-upgregwrubell Greg Wrubell
Bronco:"I had already seen what Jake could do, and believed that he was our future"; thought Nelson could be a safety. "Proved to be wrong."

I'd guess that Bronco wanted Riley to move to safety, but Riley refused/decided to stay at QB knowing he'd be the backup. Having not moved to safety, he was slotted at backup QB during spring, at which time they held a scrimmage. Bronco, at that point in time, decided that no matter how well Riley looked, he'd still be the backup. Maybe Bronco still thought he should switch to safety, but didn't force him to.Originally posted by byu71 View PostAm I not reading this right? Seems in one quote, Nelson is the back up for sure. Next quote he is moving to safety??

I guess the offensive philosophy has permanently changed. Not sure how I feel about this.AJeffreyCall Jeff Call
Moving forward, BYU will recruit QBs that are "dual threat" types, meaning they can throw the ball and have mobility, Bronco says.

I see. I had thought the two quotes had been made at the same time.Originally posted by Jacob View PostI'd guess that Bronco wanted Riley to move to safety, but Riley refused/decided to stay at QB knowing he'd be the backup. I'm curious to know the context of that statement. BYU isn't going to have much success recruiting am effective running QB. I can't imagine this coaching staff would honestly think pocket passing is not preferred.Originally posted by Jacob View PostI guess the offensive philosophy has permanently changed. I'm sure you can get the whole interview on cougar tracks. But Bronco said he'll be focusing recruiting on dual threats.Originally posted by USU Coug View PostI'm curious to know the context of that statement. Think again. BYU will have all the Skyline QB pipeline established in no time.Originally posted by USU Coug View PostI'm curious to know the context of that statement. There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Well for the foreseeable future we have Hill and then Kuresa (can't wait until Mangum transfers in '16 because of him!). That should give Doman enough time to become competent to the point where he doesn't need a kid with legs to bail him out after another play he called and hasn't worked enough on executing in practice falls apart.Originally posted by USU Coug View PostI'm curious to know the context of that statement.
