2011 bowl games open thread

    Judging by the sparse participation in this thread, I'm guessing that this year's bowl season is a dud. Ratings have been low, as well.

    I wonder if it is because the bowls truly are snoozers or because both Utah and BYU are playing in snoozer bowls, thereby dampening overall enthusiasm? I know last year BYU played in a crappy bowl but there seemed to be much more interest on the board. But nobody seems amped for the Armed Forces Bowl.

    Texas Kal right now and nary a peep on CUF.

        Scheduled for 10AM local time on a Friday, I'm guessing that the ratings for the BYU game are not going to be great.

        Also. The bowls are snoozers. I made the mistake of spending some time in bed last year during the holidays and it was BORING. I ended up reading most of the time instead because the bowl games sucked. I should have waited until march madness.

          Just saw highlights from the AFA-Toledo bowl game (forgot which bowl). That looks like it would have been fun to watch. AFA lost on the last play when they went for 2 and fumbled the pitch on an option play that looked like it would have been a score without the fumble.

                Cal making this Texas defense look spectacular. Or is this Texas defense really this good? Well, probably somewhere in the middle.

                  They are ranked #14 in total defense in spite of having played 6 top-15 total offense teams (and 3 in the top 5).

                    I said Cal is making Texas look spectacular, I wasn't implying that they aren't good. Sheesh. I don't use that word all willy-nilly. The only things I would say are spectacular are the bufallo wings from the Chicken Shack in Vegas and the scenery at Playa del Carmen.

                      Too many bowl games, and they are spread out way too much. Give me 3-4 days of a full days slate of bowl games, and I'll watch them all.
