    good argument.
BYU is a department of the LDS church. Now we've come full circule. BYU needs to get a secular board, etc. and then it will begin to solve its problems. All of BYU's problems arise from the fact that it is really just a department of a religion. In this respect, by the way, it is wholly unique among U.S. universities, maybe universities worldwide. BYU is a freak. That is the source of its problems.

I absolutely HATE that I agree with this.

Can anyone confirm for me that on the PAC12 forum they were discussing big games this year. When the big game between USC and Utah was discussed, a contingency (I heard many) BYU fans chimed in and got in a debate saying the BYU game is Utah's biggest game of the year.

Really. If this is true, way to represent BYU fans. It would be another reason why outside of Utah County I tell them the Y on my hat stands for Yale.

You tell people that in Salt Lake City, Draper, Sandy, etc? I doubt many people believe you.

Have you been slumming on Utefans again?

I looked at the forum and the number one comment out of the gate in an article about Utah and USC was from a Ute fan running BYU smack, and it went from there.

Nope, haven't read that board in I can't remember how many years. This came from an excellent guy in the office who happens to also be a Ute fan. Understandably he reads the PAC12 board when it concerns Utah.

He just came in and said laughingly, "some of your guys are at it again".

I guess one of the comments from a PAC12 fan was, "no wonder you want to get away from those guys".

My family wouldn't believe it either. They know I couldn't get into Yale.

Here are the very first two comments in response to the arctle about Utah playing USC this year:

This might be the biggest game in Utah history. As big if not bigger than the 2009 Sugar Bowl. Utah plays some mid-major on Sept 15.
hopefully we won't be wasting another football game playing St. Mary's of the Wasatch in the future. Time for all Ute fans to understand where we are and where we are headed and stop the emotional tear jerking over Sept 15th possibly being our last "rivalry" game. USC is coming October 4th, Utes! Time to focus on games that matter.....GO UTES!!!

I don't think you can argue that USC at Utah is possibly the biggest game ever at RES. The only comparable games might be the TCU game in 2010 and TCU certianly doesn't have the clout of the Trojans.

Is it bigger than the 2009 Sugar Bowl? Probably not, but depending on how things play out it might come in a close 2nd.

                        I'm not arguing that.

There are indeed a lot of Ute fans who are small and mean-spirited about the current conference situation. This appears not to be limited to one side of the rivalry.

Which is the greater sin boastful pride or raging jealousy.

Interesting question. Both are pretty obnoxious. I was asking myself which type of attitude I'd rather put up with over a friendly meal. Tough to choose! I guess I'd pick the side most sympathetic to my point of view.

I think false magnanimity is worse than both.
